Chapter 398 Ruby’s Rage at Campus Clinic
“You just don’t get it. She’s acting out of jealousy.”
“Really?”
“Seriously, don’t you know? I heard that…”
“Are Lucas and Arabella actually dating?”
“I don’t think so. They’ve never done anything couple–like. They just seem like regular friends.”
“Hey, with someone like Mr. Stewart in the picture, of course she’d be interested in him.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Can’t you guys see there’s something different about how Mr. Stewart acts around Arabella?”
“You mean…”
The group gradually broke up, and their speculative chatter faded into the distance.

“Arabella, don’t let it bother you. No one at the academy will take Ruby’s nonsense seriously,” Lucas reassured her.
Arabella glanced at him and nodded. “I know. You did the right thing by clarifying things publicly to stop any
rumors.”
Lucas hesitated for a moment, choosing his words carefully. “Don’t you think Mr. Stewart acts… differently toward you?”
“Yeah,” Arabella agreed with a nod.
Lucas‘ heart sank a little.
“I hadn’t noticed before how difficult he can be. It doesn’t make him an ideal business partner,” Arabella thought to herself. “And he’s so sharp it feels a bit dangerous sometimes. Maybe I was too quick to agree to this partnership.”
“Huh?” Lucas looked confused, “Is that what you mean?”
Arabella looked back at him, puzzled. “What else would I mean?”
Lucas nervously ran a hand through his hair. “N–nothing, forget it.”
Arabella frowned slightly, studying him. He was acting a bit odd.
Feeling flustered under her gaze, Lucas forced himself to explain. “I just thought he seemed a bit hard on you, that’s all. So I asked.”
“Oh,” Arabella smiled faintly. “It’s not that he’s hard on me. We just have different perspectives sometimes, but it’s fine.”
“So… your relationship with him is strictly professional? Just a partnership?” Lucas pressed, needing confirmation.
“What’s with you today? Why the sudden interest in Mr. Stewart?” Arabella asked, her curiosity piqued.

Luces flushed slightly, “to reason, really?

They both spoke at the same time and then stopped.
Arabella looked at him. “You were saying?”
“Nothing Let’s just start the training” Lucas said, his courage falling him.
like you, He would tell her when the time felt right.
Arabella raised an eyebrow skeptically, “PEZ”
She had dearly heard him start to say something important.
Lucas scrambled for an excuse. “Really, I was just thinking, if we finish around this time, it’ll be lunch soon. I was going to ask if you wanted to grab something to st
Arabella agreed readily, “Sure, lunch sounds goos
After what happened with Ruby today, and him being dragged into it because of her, treating him to lunch was the least she could
Lucas smiled, relieved, “Okay, let’s get started then.”
They walked into the designated training area and boarded the aircraft for Arabella’s scheduled session.
“Ow! Be careful!” Ruby yelped in pain.
“It’s a scrape, and it’s broken the skin. We need to clean it properly to prevent infection,” the nurse said matter–of–factly. “If you don’t want a scar, you’ll have to tough it out.”
Hearing that, Ruby immediately clenched her jaw and stayed silent. A scar was the last thing she wanted.
Gritting her teeth through the stinging antiseptic, she was left with a fine sheen of sweat on her forehead.
“All done, But your cheek….” The nurse looked at Ruby’s face. “It’s a bit swollen. You should ice it when you get home.”
Ruby’s expression darkened instantly. “I don’t need to!” she snapped through gritted teeth.
She tried to stand up abruptly, jolting her injured knee, and sucked in a sharp breath.
“Take it easy,” Naomi said, steadying her. “You should probably go home and rest for a couple of days to let this heal.”
“Yeah,” Ruby grumbled, resigned. The pain was worse than she’d expected.
She hadn’t thought a simple fall could hurt this much.

This is all Arabella’s fault. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t be here.
“Even though it’s just a surface wound, try not to get it wet for now…” the nurse continued with aftercare instructions. “And really, do put some ice on that swelling, or else-”
“Just stop talking!” Ruby cut her off angrily.
Being slapped and forced to apologize in front of everyone was humiliation enough. She didn’t need this nurse rubbing it in.
She shot the nurse a venomous glare, convinced the woman was mocking her.
The nurse frowned, her patience wearing thin. “Young lady, if you’re not going to listen to medical advice, don’t bother coming to me next time you get hurt.”
“How dare you speak to me like that? Are you cursing me?” Ruby fumed, her face flushing with anger.
Who did this woman think she was?
“How utterly unreasonable,” the nurse muttered, too annoyed to continue. She turned away to tidy up her supplies and dispose of the used medical wrappings.
“Who are you calling unreasonable?” Ruby shot back.
“Ruby, let’s just go,” Naomi urged, pulling gently on her arm. “You’re hurt. Getting upset won’t help you heal. Come on, let’s get you home.”
Naomi then offered an apologetic look to the nurse. “She’s just in a lot of pain and not herself. Please don’t take it personally.”

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
