Edward looked completely baffled. “What ‘Macdonalds‘? We never mentioned anything like that.”
“No, seriously–she’s right over there,” someone said, pointing toward Harper.
Ethan’s expression tightened, and the air around him turned icy. “That’s absolute nonsense.”
Harper met Ethan’s gaze, let out a smug sniff, and said, “What’s wrong? Mad we finally figured out your little game?”
“Harper, cut it out!” Edward snapped, his voice sharp with anger.
She shot him a defiant glare. “You can’t cover for her anymore, not now.”
“This guy right here is her so–called brother Ethan. They’ve been going around town scamming free meals at nice restaurants, pretending to be loaded when their family’s basically broke.” Harper spoke with growing confidence, convinced she’d uncovered their secret. “That’s why they’re here today–to pull the same stunt. Don’t let them fool you. They’re not rich at all!”
“Harper, shut your mouth!” Edward shouted, his face pale with rage.
“Wait, you’re saying he’s her brother?” someone asked, sounding stunned.
Harper nodded emphatically. “That’s him. Arabella brought him over to our place once to try and hustle money out of my actual brother.”
“Hustle money from your brother?” another guest chuckled in disbelief. “Why would he need to do that?”
“Are you hearing yourself right now?” someone else said, shaking their head at Harper.
“What a waste of everyone’s time,” another muttered under their breath.
Unfazed, Harper kept pushing. “Everything I’m saying is true. You’ve got to believe me–don’t let them keep playing you!”
“I can back her up on that,” Calvin said, stepping forward.
“Me too,” Dylan added, joining him.

Dylan put on a pained, almost pitying look. “Arabella, the gig’s up. There’s no point keeping up
the act now.
Ignoring Dylan completely, Arabella kept her eyes locked on Calvin. This guy looked familiar..
“Uncle? What are you doing here?” Edward blurted out, suddenly realizing how Harper had even gotten into the event.
“Uncle?” Arabella’s eyes narrowed, and a faint, cold smile touched her lips.
Edward’s uncle–that meant Calvin. The same man who’d nearly run her over in the hospital parking lot months ago.
Suddenly, a few things clicked into place. Arabella’s gaze darkened.
“Hmph, so you still remember I’m your uncle?” Calvin scowled at Edward.
“Uncle, tell Harper to stop. And all of you owe Arabella an apology–you know that’s not what happened,” Edward insisted, frustration clear in his voice.
“Edward, I think she didn’t just take your money–she messed with your head, too!” Harper fumed. “I’m your real sister. She’s just some fake!”
“Whoever my sister is, we should still stick to the facts,” Edward replied, trying to stay calm.
He knew exactly how connected Ethan was. And Arabella wasn’t some scam artist–she had her own strengths. How could they just throw around accusations like that?
“Enough. You’re useless,” Calvin snapped at Edward before turning to Arabella. “For Edward’s sake, I’ll let you walk out now. I’ll make sure no one here comes after you. So just leave.”
Arabella almost laughed out loud. “You?”
Seriously, who did he think he was here?
Calvin’s smug expression faltered. He’d only been trying to scare her off–if she stuck around, she could ruin everything he’d planned.
But seeing her completely unfazed made him uneasy.
“Uncle, stop. If it weren’t for Arabella, I wouldn’t even be here tonight. What’s this ‘for my sake‘ about? You don’t have any pull here–why drag me into it?” Edward said, exasperated.
Called out in front of everyone, Calvin flushed with embarrassment. He shot Edward a furious look. “Pathetic. Always defending someone who’s nothing to you.”

The readers' comments on the novel: True Heiress Returns to Her Unemployed Rich Family (Arabella)
I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
