“Talking about it now isn’t helping anyone. Think of something, quick.” Dylan’s voice held a touch of
nerves.
“Hmph.” Calvin shot him a look. “All we can do now is cross our fingers.”
With that, Calvin turned toward Edward. “Edward, I was out of line earlier. I shouldn’t have listened to them without knowing the full story. Put in a word for me, will you?”
Edward frowned but stayed silent.
Calvin pressed on, “For your mother’s sake, help me out just this once.”
This deal was too important to lose–Clark Group was banking on this investment.
Edward glanced at him coolly. “I warned you. You didn’t listen. You dug this hole yourselves.”
There really was nothing he could do. He couldn’t bail him out.
“Are you really going to be this cold about it?” Calvin put on a wounded expression.
Edward clenched his jaw and simply looked away.
A mocking smile touched Arabella’s lips. “Mr. Clark, your acting skills are something else. Ever thought of quitting business and going into Hollywood? You’d probably snag an Oscar.”
The way he switched faces so fast, how easily he bent over backwards it almost deserved applause.
“Don’t get too full of yourself, Arabella. Sooner or later, everyone will see you for what you really are,” Harper snapped.
“Ha, what I really am?” Arabella’s laugh was pure scorn. “Just because you’re blind doesn’t mean everyone else is as clueless as you.”
Forget her real background–just looking at the situation right now, both Matthew and Ethan had her back. Where did Harper even get the nerve to come at her?
“I’m not two–faced and scheming like you,” Harper shot back, her face flushed.
Arabella raised a brow, gave Harper a once–over, and shook her head with a sigh. “It’s not just your eyesight that’s bad. Your judgment’s pretty off too.”
“Enough, Arabella! You’re broke–who do you think you are to talk down to me?” Harper lunged toward Arabella. “I’ll scratch that pretty face of yours right off!“,
“Oh my God!” Several women in the room paled.
“She’s actually lost it!” More than a few men looked stunned.
“Arabella, look out!” Edward rushed forward, but someone else was quicker.

Chapter 483 A Kick
Matthew stepped smoothly in front of Arabella, his long leg blocking the way, his gaze icy enough to freeze the air.
Ethan didn’t hesitate–he just kicked Harper straight in the stomach, sending her stumbling backward.
“Ow!” Harper hit the floor, wailing dramatically.
“Harper, are you okay?” Dylan hurried over, helping her up with a worried look.
“Boo–hoo!” Harper sobbed loudly. “Honey, he kicked me! It hurts so bad! I think I’m dying!”
Dylan’s eyes turned fierce as he glared at Ethan. “You hit her! You’re not getting away with this!”
“Hmph, she threw the first punch. I was just defending myself,” Ethan retorted coolly.
Trying to lay a hand on Arabella? That idiot had it coming.
“Don’t play dumb with me. Harper never even touched Arabella. You’re the one who struck her,” Dylan accused.
“Arabella has a delicate constitution. She can’t handle shock. The way Harper came at her caused serious emotional and psychological distress,” Ethan replied smoothly. So yeah, self–defense.
“That’s ridiculous. Arabella’s perfectly healthy,” Dylan fumed, his face turning red. He couldn’t believe someone was outdoing him in sheer audacity.
“Dylan, just take Harper and go. She tried to attack Arabella first. Don’t make this messier than it already is
it won’t end well for you,” Edward said, irritation clear in his voice.
He felt like he was seeing these people for the first time. They all seemed like strangers now.
“No way! He hits someone and just walks off?” Harper cried prettily, pointing a finger at Ethan. “I’ll make sure he pays.
Ethan didn’t flinch. “It’s just a matter of compensation. I can afford it. Go on, name your price.”

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
