Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 124

Julian’s eyes turned cold, his whole presence frosted over. “There’s no point.”

The truth was right there in front of them. Doing it all over again would just be a waste of time. He didn’t want to face it anymore—the fact that his wife had been with another man, that she’d had his child, and that the child was living under his roof. He refused to let anyone in the Grayson family call Noah a bastard. As long as nobody brought it up, he could pretend Noah was really his own.

Whatever hope Madeline had just started to feel for Julian vanished in an instant. Of course. He trusted the evidence, trusted Helene, trusted the doctors, trusted Miles. The only person he couldn’t trust was her. He’d known her for ten years, and they had been married to for three. Still, there was not even a speck of trust left.

Madeline felt pathetic for hoping, even for a second. Why did she ever expect anything from Julian? Five years ago, he’d forced her to take something to end her pregnancy. She should’ve realized then—there was never any trust between them. He’d known the medicine wouldn’t work on an eight-month pregnancy. He just wanted her to feel Helene’s pain, to punish her.

That was the kind of man Julian was. Cold. Cruel. How could she ever have let herself hope for more?

Her heart, which had barely begun to open up again, slammed shut. Whatever love she had for Julian needed to be locked away for good. Only then could she keep herself safe from him.

“Julian, let’s go get the divorce licenses.” Madeline kept her head down, her voice icy and distant. When she finally looked up, all the bitterness in her eyes was hidden deep inside her, buried where he’d never see it. The way she looked at Julian now was even colder than the way he looked at her.

“Yes.” How could she not hate a man who had tried to make her lose her baby, who never trusted her, who hurt her and her child?

Julian let out a low, bitter laugh. The anger in it was almost frightening.

“You want the kid? Fine. You want to leave me? Fine. He’s in the hospital right now. Madeline, if you can take him and leave the city tonight, then you can have what you want. I won’t come after you. We’ll be done. Forever.”
