Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 176

Just then, someone came out of the restroom. Julian paused for a second, then stepped forward and asked, “How many people are still in there?”

The girl stopped in her tracks, her eyes sparkling as she stared at Julian, a little dazed. “Uh… I think there are two. One girl fell down…”

Julian didn’t bother with another word. He walked right in.

Inside, only Madeline and another girl were left. The other girl was trying to help Madeline up. Julian walked over, reached out, and grabbed Madeline’s arm, pulling her up in one smooth motion.

The girl who’d been helping Madeline looked startled, completely stunned by the sudden appearance of a man in the women’s restroom.

Madeline was clearly out of it, her hair all messy and falling over her face, her cheeks flushed from the alcohol. She blinked up at Julian, her eyes full of confusion, as if she didn’t even recognize him. Maybe she just couldn’t believe he’d actually show up here in a women’s restroom. She shoved at him, full of suspicion.

“Who are you? Don’t touch me…”

Julian’s patience was running thin. He reached out and gently held her chin, making her look straight at him. “Madeline, who told you that you could drink tonight?”

She was so drunk she didn’t even know who she was talking to.

“What’s it to you…”

The girl who’d been helping Madeline watched Julian with uncertainty. “Um… and you are?”

“I’m her husband.”

“Oh, got it. I’ll leave her with you then.”

“Thanks.”

Julian glanced down at Madeline, who was practically collapsing in his arms. For a second, something softer flickered in his eyes. He was just about to pick her up and take her out.

But Madeline acted like he was some kind of monster, shoving him away over and over. “I’m not your wife? Your wife is already dead. You don’t have a wife… You don’t deserve one…”

Julian honestly couldn’t tell if she was really drunk or just pretending to be.

“So you know who I am now?” Julian asked, frowning as he watched her sway.

Madeline’s expression was blank. She stared hard at him, like she was trying to work it out. “You? Who are you?”

Julian took a slow breath. “Julian.”

Julian pressed his lips together, his temples pounding. He held her chin, trying to keep his cool. “Then who do you like the most?”

“The most… I like Noah the most…”

She mumbled it like she was talking in her sleep. Her voice was soft and slurred, but Julian still caught the name Noah.

He let out a quiet sigh. At least she liked their son best, not some other guy. That made him feel a little better.

“And… Oliver…” Madeline’s voice was barely louder than a whisper, but she smiled a little as she said the names.

Julian didn’t catch it. “What did you say? Say it again.”

Madeline frowned, looking annoyed. “Julian…”

“I’m listening.”

“You’re so annoying.”

Julian’s brow creased as he looked at Madeline, who was leaning against the wall like she could fall asleep any second. He tried again, his voice tight with frustration. “Say those names again. Oliver? Who’s Oliver?”
