“Casey?” Madeline blinked, barely pausing before heading straight toward him. But Julian stepped in, blocking her with his broad shoulders.

She stopped short.

Courtney and Bill hurried out behind her. Courtney’s eyes were wide with shock. Who would just barge into the Grayson family’s home like this? Was that guy crazy?

Casey stared at Julian, his expression cold and almost hungry for violence. “I took her. Madeline had nothing to do with it. She didn’t know a thing. I’m the one you are looking for.”

Madeline froze in place. Why did Casey kidnap Helene?

Julian’s face darkened, eyes stormy.

Courtney bristled, stepping up in anger. “You? Why would you hurt my daughter? What did she ever do to you?”

“She knows exactly what she did. Honestly, you should all be thanking me. I could’ve finished her off for good.”

Casey’s presence was overwhelming, like he’d just crawled out of the darkest corner of hell. Courtney felt her words get stuck in her throat. She couldn’t even speak.

Helene heard the commotion and had someone help her out of her room. As soon as she spotted Casey, she went pale, stumbling backward in terror. “You!”

“Mom, Dad,” Helene blurted out, grabbing onto her parents, her voice shaky. “He’s... he’s the one. The man who attacked me that night.”

Bill’s jaw tightened. He cut Courtney off before she could say anything else. She shot him a glare. “What are you doing?”

Thank God Madeline managed to dodge it. The car wasn’t just speeding, it was after her on purpose. Right after, Helene and Raine got out and started hurling insults at Madeline, pushing her until she snapped and fought back.

Once it was over, Madeline left right away. The moment she was gone, another car pulled up, and someone dragged Helene and Raine inside.

It was obvious now. Helene and Raine tried to run Madeline down first. That’s what caused the fight. And in those few minutes, Madeline couldn’t possibly have planned a kidnapping.

So Casey must have found out, and decided to take revenge for Madeline on his own. She hadn’t known anything about it.
