Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 191

Julian shut him down without a second thought. There was no room for argument, no space for pleading.

Oliver’s eyes flickered as he tried his luck. “You didn’t get into another fight, did you?”

Julian’s eyebrows pulled together. Fight? Her and her boyfriend were practically glued at the hip these days. There was no way she’d have time to fight with him.

“No. She’s with someone she actually likes. I don’t want to go over and be annoying.”

“At least you realize you’re annoying,” Oliver muttered, almost to himself.

Julian froze, then glanced down at him. “What was that?”

Oliver quickly shook his head, flashing a harmless grin. “I was complimenting you.”

“Complimenting me on being annoying?”

Oliver went blank for a second. If Julian heard him, why bother asking?

Julian just tilted his chin, looking irritated. He didn’t feel like arguing, so he waved the kid upstairs.

Oliver didn’t hesitate. He took the chance and darted up right away.

Julian raised his hand and Miles came over. “Sir?”

“Go to the school and see if anything’s going on with him.”

Something about the kid seemed off today.

Miles nodded right away. “Got it.”

Madeline went straight to work after dropping him off. She’d skipped yesterday, and now it felt like she was drowning in things that needed her attention.

Meetings took up her whole morning. After lunch, her assistant came in to review her schedule. As Madeline scanned the itinerary, she noticed James’ return date. Brenda really wanted her to handle the brand ambassador meeting.

Her assistant spoke up. “Ms. Monroe, about tomorrow’s meeting with our partners, they’re asking that you attend in person. It’s at the Royal Hotel. Do you want me to decline?”

Madeline raised an eyebrow. Another meeting that needed her face?

She looked up. “No, I’ll go.”

“Alright, I’ll leave you to it.”

“Thanks.” Madeline took a moment to think, eyebrows pinched in concentration, then turned her attention back to work.
