“Mmph…”
Madeline shuddered, her whole body tense. She didn’t even get a good look at who it was, but honestly, who else could it be except Julian and his brand of crazy?
A sharp pain flashed across her lips as he bit down. Madeline pushed at his chest, desperate to get free, but the harder she tried, the tighter his grip became.
Blood filled her mouth, laced with the heavy smell of alcohol. The heat of it made her dizzy, her thoughts all tangled up.
She fought back, trying to turn her head away, but he just pressed closer. His kiss was wild and relentless, like he wanted to swallow her whole.
When he finally swept her up and pinned her to the sofa, reality hit her in a rush. He was completely out of control.
The air between them felt dangerous. Julian’s anger and desperation pulsed all around her, leaving her cornered, unable to fight her way out.
At last, he pulled back. His dark eyes bore down on her, and she realized her own eyes were wet, her cheeks burning.
She saw the craving in his gaze and her mind went blank. Julian was impossible to understand. Just an hour ago, he’d been downstairs with Helene, all gentle and sweet. Now he was here, breaking into her apartment and kissing her like he’d lost his mind.
He stared at her, his voice low and rough, each word ragged with breath. “Madeline, what else are you hiding from me?”
Her pulse hammered in her ears. She couldn’t stop thinking about Noah, fast asleep in the next room. Panic crept over her, and she knew Julian saw it. He caught every flicker of fear in her eyes.
He let out a cold, almost mocking laugh, then buried his face in her neck. His breath was warm on her skin. “How about you give me a child?” His whisper sent a shiver down her spine.
“Julian, please, you’re drunk. Calm down.”
She didn’t dare push him any further. If he really wanted to hurt her, she knew she couldn’t stop him.
“I’m not drunk. I mean it.”
Madeline took a shaky breath, her voice cold. “I’m not having your child.”
For a second, he almost seemed to cool off, but her words lit him up all over again. “So it’s fine for you to have someone else’s kid, but not mine? What’s wrong with me, Madeline?”
She wanted to shout, Noah is your son. But you never believe me. You only trust what you see with your own eyes.
