Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 226

Madeline finished her soup, setting the empty bowl on the table. When she looked up, she caught the excitement flickering in Raine’s eyes.

“Madeline, come keep me company in the living room for a while.”

“Sure,” Madeline replied. She didn’t hesitate, just got up and pushed her grandmother’s wheelchair into the living room.

Raine and Kate shared a look, both of them barely able to hide their smiles.

Madeline chatted with her grandmother for a bit, but soon she started feeling lightheaded. Her eyelids grew heavy and her head felt fuzzy. Sensing something was off, her grandmother reached out and asked, “Madeline, are you alright?”

Madeline tried to clear her head. “I don’t know, I just suddenly feel dizzy. And really sleepy.”

Madeline kept rubbing her temples, clearly too woozy to argue. Finally, she just nodded.

Raine and Kate guided her to a guest room. As soon as Madeline’s head touched the pillow, her eyes closed and she drifted off, deep asleep.

Raine stood over the bed, looking down at her. She reached out and patted Madeline’s cheek. “Hey, Madeline?” No response at all.

Raine straightened up, looking satisfied. “Mom, go distract Grandma. I’ll call someone to come and take her to the car.”

Helene let out a low laugh. “With Madeline out of the house, I finally have a chance to find the child she’s been hiding. There’s no way she can keep him hidden forever.”

Raine sounded awestruck. “Helene, you’re brilliant.”

“Just be careful. Don’t slip up,” Helene warned.

“I know.”

Helene ended the call and started for the stairs. A moment before she stepped into the hallway, Oliver ducked into a side room, his small face twisted in anger.

That awful woman was trying to hurt his mom.

Without hesitating, Oliver lifted his smartwatch and dialed Madeline’s number, desperate to warn her…
