Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 336

The moment Helene pictured what could happen next, she ran her fingers through her hair, restless and on edge. “Mom, I’m scared. How did things get so messed up? This is not what I expected. Everything was going perfectly at first.”

“Don’t worry, we’ll figure something out. I’ll go talk to your father right now.”

“Okay, okay, Mom, go. Please, just go.”

Helene took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. She thought for a second, then rushed to the bed and grabbed her phone. She dialed Raine’s number with shaky hands. “Get over here. Right now. It’s urgent.”

As soon as she hung up, Helene slid down to the floor, her eyes wide with fear.

Raine arrived in no time. “Helene, what’s going on? Why did you call me like that?”

She took one look at Helene, sitting on the floor, and hurried over. “Helene, are you alright? What happened?”

Helene slowly raised her eyes to meet Raine’s. Without warning, she grabbed Raine by the collar, pulling her close. Her voice was sharp and cutting. “Raine, would you ever betray me?”

Raine froze, her eyes going wide. “Helene, why are you asking me this? I’d never betray you. You know that.”

Helene clenched her jaw. “Good. Remember what you said today. If you ever turn on me, I swear, I’ll take the whole Monroe family down with you.”

Raine’s face went pale. “Helene, what’s happened? Why are you acting like this?”

“I don’t know what’s coming, I just have a bad feeling. Go back and make sure you’re on your grandmother’s good side. Now. Go.” Helene shoved her away.

Raine was completely lost, not understanding any of it. The panic in Helene’s eyes made her even more uneasy. She scrambled to her feet. “Alright, I’ll go now.”

“Julian, I heard Noah woke up. I just wanted to see him,” Helene said, hiding her nerves and putting on her most worried look.

“My son doesn’t need you checking on him.” Madeline’s voice came from inside the room.

The memory of what happened that day was still fresh. Just hearing Madeline’s voice made Helene’s shoulders tense up, and the fear in her eyes was impossible to hide.

She squeezed her hands into fists, then forced herself to let go, trying to push the fear away and replace it with anger. “I watched Noah grow up too. I have a right to see him. It has nothing to do with you.”

After what Madeline had done, there was no way Helene could pretend to be friendly.

Madeline just gave her a cold smile. “We both know who hurt Noah. Do you really not feel sick pretending like this?”
