Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 34

Madeline tried to steady herself, forcing a deep breath as her emotions threatened to spill over.

Helene leaned in against Julian, her eyes dancing with smug satisfaction. Her voice was soft and delicate. “Let it go, Julian. Just let Ms. Monroe leave.”

Raine shot back, her voice sharp and loud. “Helene, you’re way too soft. She insulted you, hurt you like this, and you still want to forgive her? She doesn’t care at all. Mr. Grayson, my sister has always been cruel. If you don’t put her in her place, she’ll just come after Helene again.”

Julian’s eyes grew colder, his expression hardening as he strode forward.

Madeline could feel him coming closer. She turned and saw his tall figure right behind her.

Without warning, Julian grabbed her wrist, his grip unyielding.

Madeline’s breath caught. In a flash, he slammed her hand down onto the table.

She tried to pull away, but his hold was like iron, almost as if he wanted to snap her wrist.

Pain shot through her brow as she glared at him.

“Are you going to apologize, or do you want me to make you?” His words were icy, his face so close she could feel the chill in his voice filling the silent room.

Brenda rushed over, panic written all over her face as she tried to pry Julian’s hand off. “Julian, have you lost your mind? Madeline is a doctor. If you hurt her hand, you’ll ruin her career. Let go! Let her go, you jerk. I insulted Helene, and I’m the one who slapped her. Madeline had nothing to do with it…”

“Brenda, shut up,” Madeline snapped.

Tears welled in Brenda’s eyes. “Madeline…”

“This is between me and him.” Madeline stared Julian down, defiant. “Apologize? Not a chance. You don’t need to do anything. I’ll handle it myself.”

Julian’s gaze narrowed.

Madeline yanked her hand free with a burst of strength.

If he wanted to blame her, fine. At least this way, she wasn’t the only one hurting.

Julian seemed rattled by the sight of her blood.

Her words hung in the air as Julian’s temper finally exploded. He lunged forward, gripping her wrist. “Is apologizing really that hard for you?”

“It wasn’t my fault. Why should I apologize?” Madeline shouted back.

Both of them stood there, chest heaving, the tension between them thick and dangerous.

“You better put on leash on her. I don’t mess around. If she tries this again, I’ll end her.” Madeline’s voice was flat, deadly serious.

She pried his fingers from her wrist, one by one, then turned and walked away without a backward glance.

Brenda watched, her lips trembling. Then she let out a cold, shaky laugh. “Julian, you might want to check the security cameras. You’re in for a surprise.”
