Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 348

Courtney listened to Julian, her face growing even paler. She couldn’t believe he could be this cold.

She didn’t dare stay another second and hurried off to find Helene on the rooftop.

Madeline glanced back at Julian, who looked as icy as ever, and raised an eyebrow. “You’re not going to check? What if she actually does it?”

Julian didn’t even flinch. “She won’t.”

Josh and Brady exchanged a look, both clearly eager for some excitement.

Josh spoke up, his voice cheerful. “Guess we’ll go take a look. If she really tries to jump, maybe we can stop her.”

The two of them wasted no time and dashed out, leaving Madeline staring after them in disbelief.

By now, a crowd had gathered both on the rooftop and down below. Helene was sitting right on the edge, her eyes and nose red and puffy from crying. She looked completely lost, like someone the world had forgotten about.

The wind tugged at her thin body, making her seem even smaller and more fragile, swaying dangerously on the ledge.

Courtney rushed up the stairs, her heart pounding. She knew Helene probably wouldn’t do it, but the sight still made her panic. She cried out, desperate, “Helene, please come down. Mom’s begging you, okay? Please, don’t do this to yourself.”

Helene saw her mother and a spark of hope flashed in her eyes. But she shook her head, her voice trembling. “No, Mom, I’m so tired. I haven’t done anything wrong, but everyone blames me. I love Julian so much, and he doesn’t want me anymore… I just can’t go on…”

She bowed her head, shoulders shaking with every sob. Her words spilled out, like she was talking to herself, but her gaze kept darting to the stairwell, almost like she was hoping someone else would appear. “Julian was the only man I ever loved. I only want to marry him. Without him, what’s the point of living…”

She kept crying, her voice getting softer, but it was clear she wanted Julian to hear every word.

“Helene… Helene…”

Brady shook his head and clicked his tongue. “Ms. Fortner, you should come down. It’s freezing up here. You’ll just catch a cold. It’s not worth it.”

Helene’s voice was sharp. “Where’s Julian?”

Josh shrugged. “Told you already, he’s not coming. Save the drama for yourself.”

Helene’s face went through a dozen shades, from pale to almost green. Humiliation and anger twisted her features.

Courtney rushed over and pushed Josh and Brady aside. “What is wrong with you two? Can’t you see what state she’s in? What if something happens to her?”

Josh let out a cold laugh, not bothering to hide his sarcasm.

“If she really wanted to jump, she would’ve done it already. What’s she waiting for? Go ahead. Show us.”
