Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 367

Her words were so steady, so final, there was no room left to argue. Yet, in a moment of anger last night, he’d actually agreed to it. If what she said was true, then what on earth was he supposed to do?

“Boss, there’s something you need to know.” Miles crept up to Julian’s side, voice barely above a whisper.

“Go on.”

“We just got word. Mr. Grayson announced your engagement to Ms. Fortner… It’s set for November first.”

Julian looked up, eyes cold as ice.

A chill swept through Miles, making him shiver. He ducked his head even lower. Mr. Grayson really had nerve. He knew Julian would never agree, but he went ahead and did it anyway.

Yesterday, they had announced the engagement was called off. Now today, a new engagement date? If they called it off again, everyone would just laugh at them.

“Take the announcement down,” Julian said, not even hesitating.

He knew it would look ridiculous, that people would gossip, but he didn’t care.

“…Yes, sir.”

The tension in the room was suffocating. Miles hurried toward the door, desperate to escape. As soon as he opened it, he almost ran straight into Christian.

Miles’ heart skipped a beat. This was going to be a mess.

“Mr. Grayson...”

“Leave it up.”

Miles froze, caught between them, glancing helplessly at Julian.

Julian’s expression was like stone, dark eyes locked on his grandfather. “Is this fun for you?”

“What’s wrong with it? I never agreed to you breaking off the engagement.”

Christian coughed hard before he managed to catch his breath. “Why can’t you just listen to me for once?”

“Go home and get some rest.”

“Fine. If you won’t listen to me, don’t blame me for going after Madeline.”

“You promised before you wouldn’t touch her.”

“That was different. Still, what I said stands. If you can keep her safe every second of every day, then forget I said anything.”

No matter how careful Julian was, there would always be one slip.

Julian’s face turned to stone. “Threatening me is all you know.”

“That’s right,” Christian said, voice sharp. “But have you ever thought about why I can threaten you? Because she’s your weakness now.”
