Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 394

“She hired someone to kill our baby!”

“My child was eight months along. Madeline paid someone to run me off the road. Did you forget that? How could you possibly forget?” Helene screamed, her voice breaking with grief and anger.

“Shut her up! Someone, make her stop talking!” Christian coughed hard, his face red with fury as he barked out the order.

This was family business, not something to be shouted in front of the world. Helene looked so wild and out of control. How could she ever be worthy of leading the Graysons?

Courtney rushed over and slapped a hand over Helene’s mouth, but Helene fought like a cornered animal. Even with two people holding her, she was a force they could barely handle.

Tears poured down her face, smudging her makeup, her hair a tangled mess. Right now, there wasn’t a trace of the elegant Helene everyone was used to.

Madeline watched with a cold, unreadable expression. Helene deserved every bit of this. She deserved to lose her mind. She deserved to suffer. This was only the beginning. Nothing Helene felt could ever make up for what she’d done to Madeline and her child.

Bill and Courtney finally managed to wrestle Helene away, dragging her out of the hall.

Madeline turned away, refusing to even glance at Julian. She stepped up to the mic at the front of the room. “Sorry for the scene, everyone. Thank you all so much for coming to my birthday party. Please, enjoy yourselves.”

She picked up a glass of red wine, lifted it in a toast to the crowd, then took a long drink.

When she set her glass down, she caught Brenda’s eye. Brenda gave a subtle nod, letting her know she’d take care of the rest.

Madeline left the stage and walked out, her head held high.

Outside the ballroom, Helene was a wreck. Bill and Courtney tried to hold her back, but she broke free, gasping and sobbing.

“Helene…”

“Don’t touch me!” she shrieked, her voice raw and wild. “Get away from me!”

Bill and Courtney just stood there, stunned, as Helene flailed her arms and glared at them.

“Still dreaming about marrying Julian?” he sneered. “I really thought you were smarter than this, Helene. You killed my child. You set up Madeline. Five years later, and you’ve lost everything.”

Madeline. Madeline. Losing to Madeline again.

No! She hadn’t lost. Not yet.

Helene clung to Andrew’s shirt, her voice desperate. “Andrew, help me. Help me get rid of Madeline. Please, help me.”

Andrew laughed, but there was no humor in it. His fingers tightened around her neck, his eyes cold and sharp. “Are you really so stupid? Why would I risk anything for you? Did you care what I thought when you decided to get rid of my child?”

Helene’s breath caught as his grip tightened. She didn’t flinch. Instead, she looked him dead in the eye and let out a shaky laugh. “You want the truth? I did hire those men. But Madeline is the one who actually killed our child.”

“Do you really think you can lie to me?”

Helene’s eyes were wild. She held up her fingers. “I’m not lying. I swear it. I swear on my life, every word I’m about to say is the truth. If I’m lying, I shall rot in hell.”
