Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 511

Madeline reached out, catching Julian’s arm, her voice barely above a whisper. “We have plenty of time. There’s no point starting a fight with her right now. It’s just not worth it.”

Julian turned to look at her.

She squeezed his hand, just enough to let him know she wanted him to calm down.

Finally, Julian let go, backing off.

Claire exhaled in relief, and the Monroe family all sank into their chairs, looking like the weight of the world had just slid off their shoulders.

Madeline faced Maxwell. “Maxwell, could I speak with you for a moment? Just the two of us?”

Maxwell hesitated, then nodded. “Alright.”

Madeline glanced over at Julian. He let go of her hand, giving her a gentle nod. “Go ahead.”

Claire squinted, watching Madeline and Maxwell leave the room. If anything, she was even more alert now. This wasn’t the time to let her guard down.

Maxwell led Madeline down the hall to a quiet room. He paused, then looked her in the eye. “It’s just us now. You can say what’s on your mind.”

Madeline drew a slow breath. “I know ever since she showed that pendant, you and the other elders have started to trust her more. But I’ll say it again. No matter what her story is, the fact remains—she had plastic surgery. And now with the DNA test, I get that you probably won’t believe anything I say. But please… just give me one month. I’ll find a way to prove I’m the real Madeline.”

Maxwell went quiet, thinking it over.

“Alright, I’ve said what I need to say,” she said, her shoulders relaxing.

Just as she reached the door, she turned back. “Maxwell, there’s one thing I need to ask. About my mother—or, the head of the Ballard family. Do you think there’s any chance she’s still alive?”

Maxwell hesitated. He knew their family head was a strong woman, the kind you couldn’t take down easily.

He paused, then said, “We haven’t seen a body. No one can say for sure that she’s gone.”

Madeline’s lashes trembled. “I understand. Thank you.”

With that, she stepped out of the room, her mind spinning with everything that had just happened.
