Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 75

Julian barely glanced back, his expression unreadable, before reaching out and taking Noah’s hand. Without another word, he led him out of the mall.

Noah’s heart was pounding. He needed to warn Oliver, and fast. If they both ended up at home at the same time, things could get messy.

Outside, Lucy and Helene spotted Julian walking out with Noah. They exchanged a look, both clearly confused.

Lucy frowned. “Why is Noah here?”

Julian kept his voice even. “He was bored at home, so I brought him out for a bit.” He left out the part where Noah had actually snuck out by himself. Lucy couldn’t stand Noah, and if she found out, she’d definitely give the kid an earful.

Noah glanced up, searching Julian’s face for a hint of reassurance.

Julian met his eyes and gave a small nod. “Let’s go. We should head back.”

Lucy couldn’t help herself. Her voice was sharp and cold. “Noah, what’s going on with you? Stop hanging around your dad all the time. You’re not a little kid anymore. Your father’s going to marry Helene soon, and they’ll have their own children. You need to realize, you’re just an outsider here.”

Noah had heard this speech so many times, he could probably recite it in his sleep.

Julian’s jaw tightened as he opened the car door, gesturing for Noah to get in. He closed the door with a loud thud.

Helene flinched at the sound.

Lucy looked like she wanted to keep going, but the glare Julian shot her made her swallow her words.

“Mom, how many times have I told you not to bring that up in front of him?”

“I…”

Julian didn’t wait for her to finish. He just got in the driver’s seat without another word.

Helene’s face lit up. “I’m glad you’re here. I’ll feel so much better with you around.”

Back at the Grayson estate, Oliver wasn’t even thinking about practicing piano anymore. If he played one more note, he’d blow his own cover.

Instead, he was curled up in bed, fast asleep, hugging a stuffed animal. The weather was perfect for a nap, and he was completely out, mumbling in his sleep, “Fried chicken… smells so good…”

Meanwhile, Noah was nearly pulling his hair out with worry. All his messages to Oliver had vanished into the void with no reply. He’d lied to his mom, saying he was home. If she got back and found the house empty, she’d freak out for sure.

What was Oliver doing?

Noah sighed, running a hand through his hair. He had tried everything.

The car finally pulled up to the Grayson estate. Julian got out first, not looking back. Noah followed slowly, dragging his feet.
