Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 80

“What’s up?”

“How do you feel about Uncle Casey?”

Madeline froze for a second. “What do you mean?”

“Uncle Casey has a crush on you.”

Those words from Oliver almost made Madeline drop her mug. That was hilarious. She’d be grateful if he could just stop making her life miserable.

“Don’t go making things up, kiddo.”

“I’m not making it up. I saw him writing you love letters. He hides them all in this black box.”

Madeline stared at her son, speechless. Casey, Mr. Knife-or-Gun, writing love letters? That was a new one.

“If you don’t like Uncle Casey, Mommy, do you like Julian?”

Madeline’s lips twitched. “I used to. Not anymore.”

Madeline arched an eyebrow. “Are you trying to drive me crazy tonight?”

Madeline looked past the neighbor and spotted Julian, in his perfectly pressed suit, slumped against the wall with his eyes closed and his face pale. Wow, he really passed out?

The neighbor kept going, “I know you two had a fight, but you can’t just leave him like this. He fainted from stress! I already called an ambulance for you.”

Madeline pressed her fingers to her forehead and shot a look at Julian. Even passed out, he didn’t look the least bit pathetic. Just her luck.

“Sorry, ma’am, he’s not my boyfriend. Since you already called the ambulance, let’s just leave him here for them to take care of. It’s late, you should go get some rest.”

She closed the door without a second thought. Julian fainted? Not her problem.

Madeline went back to her room, switched off the lights, and crawled into bed.

The room was quiet, so every sound outside seemed even louder. She heard the ambulance arrive and her neighbor’s booming voice explaining everything to the paramedics.

A few minutes later, probably because there was no family member around, someone knocked on her door again...
