Chapter 446 Richie Likes Ellie
Serena grabbed her daughter and hurried down the stairs without slowing her pace.
Sebastian placed the clothes neatly on the bedside table, changed into something more comfortable, and trailed after her at an unhurried pace.
He wasn’t worried about the timing; there would be plenty of opportunities later to convince her to wear those outfits.
Many parents insisted that older children should yield to the younger ones, but Serena never automatically took that stance.
She understood that Sunny had a naturally reserved and calculating nature–very much like Sebastian himself.
In contrast, Richie was slower to pick things up and tended to be more straightforward and innocent.
Despite that, her daughter’s charm made Serena want to give her nothing but the very best.
At times, she realized she was showing favoritism, but an inner voice quickly reminded her not to indulge her daughter too much.
Then her expression changed abruptly when she noticed her gold pendant, which she had left in the bathroom that morning, was missing.
“Richard Levine!”
Richie flinched at once. “I’m here, Mommy! I got a gold star sticker today–do you want to see?”
By the
age of five, a child could already recognize that a sharp call from their mother often meant trouble was coming.
Serena gathered both children and brought them to her side.
“I was in a hurry this morning and left a small gold pendant on the sink. Did either of you see it?”
Richie stared upward, while Sunny blinked with a look of innocent confusion.

She shook her head. “No, Mommy, I didn’t see anything.”
Richie hesitated for a moment, his lips moving slightly before he finally murmured. “I didn’t see it either.”
“Speak clearly,” Serena said firmly. Her serious tone made both children straighten instinctively.
Richie bit his lip and fell silent.
He didn’t have the courage to repeat the same lie twice.
Sunny glanced at her brother and immediately sensed that he was about to be in trouble.
“Mommy, we have security cameras–you can check the recordings!”
Serena could tell Sunny had already figured out what happened and was even suggesting a solution. The urge to smile crossed her mind, but she kept her expression composed.
“I will review the footage later. Right now, I’m giving you a chance to tell the truth.”
Richie’s lower lip trembled, and his eyes turned red. “Mommy… I took it.”
Most minor disputes between them were usually overlooked, but Serena drew the line when it came to important matters.
“Why did you lie? And this item belongs to me–what do we call it when you that isn’t yours?”
Sunny quickly raised her hand. “That’s stealing, Mommy!”
take something
“Richie, you may not fully understand how serious this is, so let me be clear–taking my gold pendant without asking is not acceptable.”
Richie sniffed and said, “I’m sorry, Mommy. I shouldn’t have done that.
“I just thought it was pretty, and I wanted to give it to Ellie.”
Serena paused, visibly taken aback.
What?
“Mommy, Ellie said she liked your pendant the other day, so I told her I’d bring it for her to see. But then she said she really liked it…
