Chapter 475 A Trip
The next morning at breakfast Winona didn’t see Elena come downstairs at all.
A maid reported to Henry, “Mrs. Campbeltisn’t feeling well. She’ll be staying in her room today.”
He barely reacted. “Alright. Have the family doctor check on her. Keep the food light and send it up.”

Orin smiled as he looked at Winona. “Winona, I heard your shop’s been doing pretty well lately. Elena’s coming with me to a charity gala next month. Why don’t you pick out a dress you think suits her? I’ll transfer you the money.”
She gave a faint smile. “Sure. Thanks, Uncle Orin.” She wasn’t about to refuse his money.
When Orin came back with a red gown, Elena was instantly taken with it. “Where did you get this? It’s gorgeous.”
She thought he had finally gotten a sense of style, but then he said, “Winona picked it out from her shop. Said it would suit you. Looks like she was right. As long as you like it.”
Her expression shifted, color draining and rushing back all at once. “You paid her?”
He frowned, clearly annoyed. “Of course I did. I’m not about to take advantage of her.”
Winona had no idea that this one dress had made Elena so upset that she actually fell ill.
She didn’t come downstairs for an entire week.
Winona’s shop was finally running smoothly. For two months straight, she had steady customers. Some of the regulars even referred new clients her way.
She wasn’t making a fortune, but she was more than satisfied. Honestly, it was already more than what she used to make from acting.
“Dad, Mom, Austin, I’m thinking of going on a trip. I’ll be back in about half a month,” she said.
No one objected.
Austin asked, “Where are you planning to go? Want me to come with you?”
She waved him off. “No need. I’m not a kid anymore, Austin. I don’t need someone tagging along everywhere.”
But to the Campbells, she would always be a child.
“I’m heading to the Rocky Mountains this time. It’s not that far. I’ll send some nice photos to the group chat,” Winona said.
After she said that, Austin thought a little deeper than their parents. “Winona, this trip… you’re not going with Elijah, are you?”
She had already bought a full set of skiing gear. This time, she was going alone–no one else.

As she drove toward the mountains, the layered peaks stretching along the roadside filled her with a sense of freedom she couldn’t quite put into words.
Meanwhile, clueless Elijah was still racking his brain, trying to figure out how to spend more time alone with her.
By the time he showed up at Winona’s shop, her business partner, Sue, could only give him an apologetic look and tell him Winōna had taken half a month off.
“Your chess sucked today,” Henry shot, the jab landing hard.
He squinted at the board as it offended him, already over it. “Seriously awful. My dog plays better than you.”
Elijah didn’t even bother responding.
He’s talking mad trash.
He hadn’t found a single clue about where Winona went. All he heard was that she’d gone traveling.
She was driving this time, so there were no flight records to trace.–nothingto go on.
Elijah’s gaze darkened. He looked at Henry, the only one who seemed to know anything, then pressed his lips together. “Old Mr. Campbell, do you happen to know how long Winona’s planning to stay out there?”
Henry’s brows lifted slightly. His sharp, hawk–like eyes locked onto Elijah, and it clicked.
So that’s why he’s been so distracted lately. It’s my granddaughter Winona.
His mood instantly lifted. “Heh. Trying to figure out where Winona went on her little trip?”
Elijah quickly poured him a cup of coffee. “Yeah, I am.”
Henry blew on the still–hot coffee, then just stayed quiet.
Elijah couldn’t read him. “Old Mr. Campbell, just tell me. Aren’t you worried about her going that far all by herself? If I go with her, at least she won’t be alone.”
