Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 607

Either way, Amara was pregnant out of wedlock, and no one knew who the father was. Didn’t that alone show how tumultuous her personal life must be?

When the gossip blogs got her update, the reporters doubled down, shifting their focus to Amara’s character. They wrote pieces accusing her of promiscuity and a lack of morals, sparking another wave of outrage online.

The whole day had been chaos for Amara.

In truth, after Keith brought her to the Everly estate, not much else had happened to her directly.

Apart from a brief visit to Mr. Kevin Everly’s room, she spent the rest of her time in her own bedroom.

But she couldn’t stop checking the news online, absorbing a flood of chaotic information. There were so many people hurling insults at her that she felt utterly drained.

A little after nine that evening, she sat by the window, the curtains left open, resting her chin on her hand as she gazed at the moon.

There was a knock at the door. She called out, “Come in,” and Finnian entered, carrying a tray.

The tray held several steaming dishes. Finnian set it down on the coffee table in front of the sofa. “You haven’t really eaten anything all day, have you? I made some food—come, have a bite.”

Amara glanced over the tray.

Finnian had brought a generous spread, all her favorite dishes. Had he made all this himself?

As if sensing her thoughts, Finnian said, “I just cooked these. Lisa told me she brought you food twice today, and both times you sent it back untouched. Why aren’t you eating?”

He laid out the utensils and gently but firmly placed them in Amara’s hands.

Finnian’s cooking was delicious, and as she ate, her appetite gradually returned. But as soon as she remembered the harsh words she’d seen online, a wave of nausea hit her again. After finishing half a bowl of rice, she couldn’t eat any more.

Seeing she was done, Finnian didn’t push her. He just handed her a bowl of soup. “Try a little soup.”

Amara took the bowl, drank a few sips, and set it down.

Finnian gathered up the dishes and utensils, stacking them back on the tray. In a casual tone, he asked, “Now that you’re at the center of such a scandal, why hasn’t the child’s father come forward to protect you? That’s pretty irresponsible of him.”

At that, Amara’s expression turned cold.

Why hadn’t the father come forward? Because he didn’t even know the child existed! He didn’t even know the two of them had slept together!
