Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 801

Elysia hadn't eaten much these past few days; the mere thought of food left her nauseated.

After speaking, she turned her head back to the window, watching the scenery.

She was never one to gaze out windows, but it was a clear dismissal. She wanted Dorian to take a hint and leave.

Finnian walked over. His gaze shifted between Elysia and Dorian before he lowered his voice. "You need to go. Stop bothering her."

Elysia was visibly upset, and lingering would only ignite a bigger argument.

He dragged Dorian out of the room, sparing Amara a brief glance before leaving without a word.

Once outside, Finnian reasoned with him, "Dorian, just agree to the divorce. If you keep dragging this out, Elysia is only going to resent you more."

Dorian buried his face in his hands, completely devastated. "I know I'm suffocating her. I know all of it, but I just can't stop..."

"I miss her every single day. I want to see her, to hold her... but she won't even talk to me anymore. Did you see the way she treated me in there? She refused to even look at me."

His voice trailed off, heavily weighed down by despair.

Finnian patted Dorian's shoulder. With nothing left to say, he took him back to his apartment.

Dorian had been crashing at his place lately. Upon returning, Finnian pulled some food from the fridge and forced Dorian to eat.

Seeing that the man looked a little better—or at least human again—Finnian felt slightly relieved and stepped outside for a walk.

It was easy to give Dorian relationship advice, but he realized he couldn't follow it himself.

He knew Amara wanted absolutely nothing to do with him, yet he couldn't stop himself from gravitating toward her.

His gaze had been as scorching as ever, hot enough to burn, yet her mind kept drifting back to his history with Liliana.

Did he look at Liliana like that behind closed doors?

Who did this man actually love?

Lost in thought, she paced by the window until a car pulled up and a figure stepped out.

It was too dark and distant to make out the make of the vehicle, but the moment the man stepped out, his silhouette alone was enough for her to recognize him. It was Finnian.

She instantly yanked the curtains shut, hiding behind the fabric as her heart pounded against her ribs.

Why was he here in the middle of the night? What did he want? Was he looking for her?
