Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 845

Amara feigned surprise. "If discussing matters during a meal ruins the appetite, why did Fiona just bring up setting Elowen up on dates? Why didn't she wait until after we finished eating to mention it?"

Fiona's smile froze. This little tramp was getting harder and harder to deal with.

Larry, having listened to the exchange, turned his attention to Amara. "Go ahead," he said evenly.

Amara lowered her gaze, staring quietly at her hands resting on the table. "A little while ago, I went to The Sugar Petal for some cake. Right after I left, I was hit with agonizing stomach cramps. The pain was so bad I collapsed in the middle of the street. If someone hadn't been there to save me, I would have lost my baby..."

"And it wouldn't have just been a miscarriage. Because of the violent contractions and the unnatural trauma, the doctors warned that my body could have suffered permanent damage..."

Amara delivered the story with chilling calmness. Seeing the other three staring at her in stunned silence, she finally looked up at Larry. "Dad, you can probably guess why I'm bringing this up now."

"The person who conspired with the shop owner to slip something into my food—the person who tried to kill me and my child—was Elowen, along with her best friend, Amelia."

"I have the evidence right here. Would you like to see it?"

Without waiting for Larry's response, Amara unlocked her phone, pulled up the proof, and slid it across the table toward him.

Larry didn't even glance at the screen. He turned his head slowly, his eyes locking onto Elowen. "Is what Amara saying true?" he asked, every syllable laced with cold fury. "Did you really do this to her?"

Elowen shot up from her chair, screaming across the table. "You already slapped me! I paid for what I did! Why won't you just let it go?!"

Amara found the outburst darkly hilarious. "You plotted to murder me and my unborn child, and all I did was give you a well-deserved slap. Attempted murder isn't exactly settled by a backhand. If anyone was shortchanged in that exchange, it was me. Have you completely lost your mind?"

"Oh, wait. It's not your mind that's broken. It's your moral compass. Your values are completely twisted."

Amara spoke with a sharp, mocking edge, yet she remained perfectly composed throughout the entire delivery. In stark contrast, Elowen looked completely unhinged.

Elowen realized she couldn't out-argue her. Amara's tongue was too sharp. Even her mother had admitted she couldn't win a verbal sparring match against Amara. If Fiona couldn't do it, Elowen certainly stood no chance.
