Unmasked My CEO Ex-Husband’s Regret novel Chapter 206

"Okay."

Elara promised, "You stick right by Mommy's side, and Mommy will protect you. We'll try to interact with Meredith as little as possible. Does that sound okay?"

Melody felt relieved, nodding happily to show she was completely fine with that.

Remembering that Meredith treated her mother badly too, Melody started feeling uneasy again. "Then is Meredith going to be mean to you, Mommy?"

She might be little, but that didn't mean she couldn't tell that Meredith disliked them. It was just that her dad used to stand in front of them and block it.

Now, Daddy didn't seem to like them anymore. Melody wasn't sure if he would protect her and her mom like he used to.

She felt incredibly uneasy.

Mommy was protecting her, but who was going to protect Mommy?

Elara was stunned. It felt as though she had been dunked in a jar of honey. A wave of absolute comfort washed through her body, obliterating every trace of exhaustion and gloom. It was as if her soul had been nourished, injecting her with boundless strength.

"Mommy will protect herself too."

Elara tightened her grip on her daughter's hand, balling her other hand into a fierce little fist. "Don't underestimate me, okay? Mommy is super strong!"

Melody giggled aloud, abandoning her worries about whether they would be bullied or mistreated by Meredith.

The mother and daughter reached the other side of the street, where Julian had already opened the back door.

Elara helped Melody into the car first before climbing in herself.

Julian gripped the seat, leaning back halfway with a warm smile as he greeted his daughter. "Good afternoon, Melody."

Melody climbed into her seat and sat obediently.

Looking up and seeing Julian still watching her, she nodded. "Good afternoon."

She hadn't forgiven her dad yet, so this answer was enough, right?
