Jocelyn's high-speed train arrived at 12:30 PM.

Elara took Melody to the station to pick her up, with Julian behind the wheel.

He had originally planned to head straight to Vivian's apartment after breakfast, but since he now knew Jocelyn was arriving, making up an excuse to leave would be wildly inappropriate.

Plus, since Meredith had already gone to take care of Vivian, Julian had no choice but to stay behind and tag along to pick up his mother-in-law.

They arrived at the station twenty minutes early, parked the car, and headed inside. They didn't have to wait long at the exit before they spotted Jocelyn, dressed modestly and pushing a piece of luggage, walking out.

"Jocelyn!"

Elara waved, holding Melody's hand as they walked over.

Jocelyn hadn't held her granddaughter in half a year. The moment she laid eyes on the little girl, her eyes grew red. Letting go of her suitcase, she scooped Melody up into her arms.

Melody video-called her grandmother multiple times a week and was incredibly comfortable with her. The second she was picked up, she wrapped her little arms affectionately around Jocelyn's neck, sweetly called out to her, and planted a kiss on her cheek.

Jocelyn's heart melted completely. Choking back a sob, she asked, "Did you miss me?"

"So much!"

Melody nodded emphatically, her tone exaggerated. "I missed you so, so much every single day."

Jocelyn beamed with joy.

After the two finished exchanging their dramatic declarations of missing each other, Jocelyn finally turned her attention to Julian, who was standing a short distance away, completely absorbed in texting on his phone.

Feeling the shift in attention, Julian put his phone away, looked up, and greeted her politely. "Jocelyn."

"Hey."

"Let's go."

Elara took the bag off Jocelyn's shoulder, grabbed a suitcase in each hand, and led the way toward the exit. "The housekeeper made lunch. It's waiting for us at home."

"Oh, wonderful."

Once everyone was inside, Julian drove them home.

Lunch was served late today. Before she could even finish eating, Melody's eyes were practically glued shut from exhaustion. Elara eventually had to wipe her face and hands with a warm towel and carry her upstairs for a nap.

After getting Melody settled, Elara went back downstairs to the guest room to find her mother.

Aside from a change of clothes, Jocelyn had brought a massive haul of local specialties, which were currently spread all over the floor.

Elara couldn't help but laugh as she knelt to help organize. "No wonder your suitcase was so heavy. Are you trying to move the whole house here?"

"I certainly thought about it."

Jocelyn laughed back, sliding several vacuum-sealed packs of spicy hickory-smoked jerky toward her. "These are your favorites."

"Thanks."

Elara smiled, grabbing the food to store in the kitchen fridge before heading back to the room.
