Chapter 106
My aunt sat on one end of the sofa. Her eyes were still red but she wasn’t crying anymore. I sat on the other end. I answered a question or two when she askedbmy tone wasn’t warm, but I didn’t
shut her out either
About half an hour later, Grayson and Logan both stood up at the same time. They checked the time. They looked at each other.
“I’ll take her back.” they said together. They glared at each other.
I tucked the velvet box into my pocket and stood. “Let’s go.”
In the end, both of them walked me back to my apartment.
Grayson parked at the curb outside my building. Logan got out first, walked around to the back. and opened the door for me.
stepped out onto the pavement. Before I could turn toward the entrance, Logan’s voice stopped me “Harper. Wait.”
I turned. He walked up to me, opened his arms, hesitated for less than a second, and pulled me into a hug.
It was short. He let go almost immediately. When he stepped back, he looked down at me. “Thank you for being willing to forgive us.
I shook my head. “I’m not forgiving you.” I looked up at him. “I just don’t want to waste any more of my time on hate.”
I paused. “But don’t think this means you can start acting like big brothers and telling me what to do I’ll still say no when I need to.”
Logan laughed “Wouldn’t dream of it.”
I walked past him and into the building.
The elevator doors closed. I leaned back against the wall inside and felt my mouth curvebjust slightly. just at the corners.
The morning I left, the city was cooler than it had been.

I set my suitcase by the entrance of the hotel room. Took one last look at the space I’d been living in for half a month, and pulled the handle down.
The lobby was quiet at that hour. I walked through it, and pushed through the front doors. Then I stopped.
Two cars were parked at the curb.
Ryder was leaning against the first one, his cane resting against the door. Beside him, Grayson, Logan, and Colton stood in a row. They had clearly been waiting for a while.
I hadn’t even opened my mouth to ask what they were doing here before the second car’s door opened.
My aunt stepped out. She was carrying an insulated bag. She walked straight up to me, put the bag in my hands, and spoke without preamble. “Eat this on the plane. I made the sandwiches myself. Better than the airport sells.
I looked down at the bag. My fingers tightened around the handle. “Thank you.”
She nodded. She didn’t say anything else. She stepped back and returned to the second car.
Ryder walked up. His eyes dropped to my suitcase. “Got everything?” I nodded.
“Let’s go.”
Half an hour later, we were at the airport departure hall.
I hadn’t expected all of them to show up. The sight of five people trailing behind me through the terminal drew more attention than I was comfortable with-passersby glanced, looked twice, looked away.
I stopped. Turned to face them.
“That’s far enough. I’ll be fine from here.” I turned around and started walking toward the security checkpoint
Before I’d taken three steps, Grayson moved. He stepped forward and caught my arm.
I turned back. His mouth moved, then he asked carefully. “Can we… come see you? Later?” The other four were watching me in the same way.
Above us, the overhead speaker crackled, something about a boarding call, muffled and distant

I looked at them “Yeah.”
Then I quickly turned back around and didn’t look at their faces as I walked away
