Sham Marriage Quit, Real Heiress Strikes Back
Chapter 430 Power Struggle
One refused to move into the villa, while the other pushed through poor health and refused to rest.
“How is she?” Alexander asked.
He ached to go see her, yet he feared hearing the word “divorce” fall from her lips again. On top of tha, his mood was still frayed. He worried he would lose control once more and hurt her.
“She’s fine. She’s sensible and knows how to take care of herself,” Gideon replied. He had no doubt Elena, would never neglect her health just because they were fighting.
“Right now, you’re the one who needs looking after.”
“I’m not dying.” Alexander said flatly.
“Very well. I’ve said my piece. Think it over. I have patients waiting at the hospital.”
Gideon got out of the car and left.
Alexander lit a cigarette. He rarely smoked, and had barely touched a single one since being with Elena. The harsh smoke burned his throat, making him cough.
When he finished, he stubbed out the butt and drove toward the villa.
He did not get out of the car. Parked in a hidden spot, he stared toward the bedrooms. The estate was vast, and the villa sat deep within the grounds, too far for him to see clearly.
What is she doing right now? Resting? Eating? Or resenting me for not coming for her?
Or is she talking to Nathan?
Wild thoughts swirled uncontrollably in his mind. Mental torment cut far deeper than physical pain.
Reason told him he had spoken cruelly to her. He knew she was not the kind of woman to waver between two men. But he simply could not tame his chaotic emotions.
Back at the villa, Elena took a long bath and changed into soft loungewear. She slid open the floor-to-ceiling glass door leading to the balcony.
She and Alexander had mostly stayed at Kingsley Manor, yet the staff kept this residence spotless every day. Everything in the bedroom remained exactly as it had been when they first moved in.
Her clothes hung beside his in the wardrobe, and a pair of matching slippers sat on the floor. Above the headboard hung their wedding photo, where she smiled brightly.
A tangled mix of emotions welled up inside her. She forced herself to look away and stepped out onto the balcony.
Her gaze drifted across the road outside the estate gates. A dark car seemed to be parked there.
Her heart skipped a beat. She rubbed her eyes, afraid she was seeing things. When she lowered her hand, the spot was empty-only a lone tree stood there.

Chapter 430 Power Struggle
She let out a bitter laugh and went back inside, closing the glass door.
Alexander drove away soon after. Instead of heading for Kingsley Manor, he went straight to the office.
The elevator doors opened, and Ryan hurried over. “Mr. Kingsley, your uncle and the shareholders are waiting for you it the conference room.” Ryan’s expression was grim.
Alexander’s face showed no emotion. Ryan had always known him as a man who hid his feelings well. Only when Elena was involved did he ever lose his composure.
Inside the conference room, the shareholders were arguing loudly.
“Mr. Simon Kingsley, is what you’re saying really true? This is no joke!”
“Mr. Kingsley has led us to earn huge profits for years. Are you just here to stir up trouble?”
Some suspected Simon and Carol had come to sow discord on purpose.
Carol smiled coldly. “Mark, that’s a strange thing to say. Alexander is part of the Kingsley family, but so are
W.C.
“We’re bringing this up for the good of Pinnacle Group. Even though we no longer work here, we still want the company to thrive.
“Alexander is in no fit state right now. On top of that, the Sterling family aims to expand into Northbridge. We cannot stand by and watch the company fall apart because of him.” She held up her hands, feigning innocence.
“Are you here to take my place and run Pinnacle Group?”
The conference room door had opened without notice. Alexander stood in the doorway with Ryan beside
him.
Carol’s smile faltered for a moment.
Alexander walked inside and took the main seat. The noisy room fell dead silent in an instant. Every pair of eyes was fixed on him.
“Alex, that’s not what I mean.” Carol recovered quickly, her tone warm with fake concern. “Your health is fragile right now. Your uncle and I only want what’s best for you. We suggest you take an extended break.
