Naomi gave a small nod and said, “Well, if Ava truly has an interest in it, it’s only right that we offer her our full support.”
Ava reached out and gently brushed her fingers over one of the calligraphy works. At that moment, the student who had been dozing in his chair suddenly startled awake. As soon as he opened his eyes, he found a group of girls standing right in front of him.
Any lingering drowsiness disappeared instantly. He straightened up in a hurry and apologized, “Sorry, I just dozed off for a second.”
While speaking, his attention drifted to the girl examining the artwork. Her beauty was striking, with an effortless charm that naturally drew the eye.
“That particular piece was created by our club president,” he added.
Ava turned toward him and offered genuine praise. “It’s really well done.”
His eyes widened slightly in surprise. “Miss, you seem quite knowledgeable about calligraphy.”
Ava gave a light smile. “Not really. I only picked up a bit when I was younger.”
“Then… would you consider joining our club?” he asked quickly. “We might not have many members, but we’re close-knit, and we also have instructors who guide us properly.”
From the side, Malory interjected. “Isn’t your club only accepting people with some background? I heard complete beginners aren’t allowed.”
“That’s not true at all!” the boy hurriedly denied. “That’s just a misunderstanding. Beginners are absolutely welcome. As long as someone is willing to learn, we have teachers who can guide them. It’s just not something you see results from immediately, so people get the wrong idea.”
He grew more flustered as he continued, insisting, “I really don’t know how that rumor started. We’ve never rejected anyone just for lacking experience.”
Watching him panic slightly as his face turned red, Ava calmly asked, “Where can I sign up?”
He immediately pointed toward the registration forms nearby. She walked over without hesitation, picked up a pen, and quickly filled in her details.
Seeing her neat handwriting, Malory couldn’t help but remark in surprise, “Ava, your writing is really beautiful.”
After finishing lunch with the group, Ava said her goodbyes and decided to head back home for a while.
When she returned to the Morren Residence, the entire house was empty. After checking with the butler, she learned that Jonathan had already gone back to the military district to resume command duties, leaving the residence without anyone in charge.
Standing in the quiet, empty home, Ava let out a faint sigh before contacting Jane through her Holoband.

The background on Jane’s side was noisy and lively. As soon as she saw her sister, Jane asked, “Ava, you’re back home?”
“Yeah.” Ava replied. “I only realized after I returned that no one’s here. It’s just me. Great-Uncle Jonathan also went back to the military district.”
Jane smiled casually. “Then just do whatever you feel like. If you get bored, you can even go on a date. I’m away on a work assignment these days, so I won’t be home either.”
After chatting a little longer, Ava ended the call.
Had she known that no one would be home, she would have stayed at school instead.
Suddenly, she remembered her two fish. She hadn’t been home for quite some time and had no idea how they were doing. She hurried back to her room, and upon seeing them still swimming slowly in the tank she finally relaxed and fed them a little.
Not long after she sat down on the couch, her Holoband rang again.
Recognizing the caller immediately, she answered at once. Ethan’s calm and steady face appeared on the
screen.
“Ava, you’re back at the Morren Residence?” he asked.
Ava nodded. “Yeah, I just got back. What about you? What are you doing right now?”
Her eyes briefly scanned the background behind him, but she couldn’t make out his location.
“I’m outside,” he replied. “Do you have anything planned this afternoon?”
She shook her head. “Not really. I thought Great-Uncle Jonathan would be home, so I came back to see him. But he returned to the military district, and there was literally no one home now.”
Ethan’s expression softened slightly. “How about I come pick you up? It just so happens I don’t have anything going on right now.”
Ava met his gaze for a moment. It occurred to her that they had never really gone out alone together before. The last time she went to the Brock Residence, Ryan had come along as well.
“Alright. I’ll wait for you here,” she agreed.
Ethan arrived quickly-barely half an hour had passed since they’d ended their call.
“That was fast,” Ava said, a little surprised.
“I wasn’t far,” he answered as he opened the car door for her.
He asked, “Anywhere you want to go?”
Strapping on her seat belt, Ava leaned back slightly. “I’m not sure. The timing feels a bit awkward. Do you have any suggestions?”
