Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 762

**A Divorce 762**

**Chapter 762**

There was a nagging certainty in Marcus’s mind that Josephine had called with a purpose, though the exact nature of her intentions eluded him. He turned away, focusing on packing his belongings, deliberately avoiding Leona’s gaze, which had become a source of discomfort.

From the corner of the room, Leona caught snippets of Josephine’s voice. “I just spotted a guy at the bar who looked just like Marcus. It threw me off for a moment,” she said, her tone light and teasing.

“And he had his arm around a young, pretty girl,” Josephine added, laughter dancing in her voice.

Leona chuckled, shaking her head. “That couldn’t possibly be Marcus. He’s been here all night, right in front of me.” Her words were playful, but they carried an undercurrent of tension.

Marcus, overhearing this, felt a tight knot of anxiety form in his stomach.

Josephine’s laugh rang out again, carefree and bright. “I knew it wasn’t him! I took a closer look, and it was definitely not Marcus. The lighting in that bar can be so misleading; for a moment, I was convinced.”

“Well, I’ll let you go then. Good night,” Josephine concluded, her voice fading.

Leona had anticipated that Josephine might have something substantial to share, but it seemed the call was merely casual chit-chat. Perhaps she was a bit tipsy, Leona mused, shaking her head slightly.

“Okay, good night! You should head home and get some rest. Overindulging in drinks isn’t good for you,” Leona advised, her concern genuine.

“I know. Thanks for looking out for me, Leona,” Josephine replied, her voice softening.

As Marcus watched Leona end the call, a sense of certainty washed over him. It was clear now: Josephine’s call had been a covert check-in, a way to confirm his whereabouts.

That night, Josephine and Courtney’s phones buzzed incessantly with notifications, each beep a reminder of their precarious situation. Messages flooded in, filled with urgency and concern, until the two women, overwhelmed, finally decided to silence their devices, seeking a moment of peace.

When Jacob returned home, the absence of both his mother and sister weighed heavily in the air. Even Hilda, their ever-present housekeeper, was nowhere to be found. A sense of unease crept over him as he made his way to the walk-in closet. The sight that greeted him was telling; while their clothes were not entirely gone, a significant portion was missing.

He realized, with a sinking feeling, that the mother-daughter duo had likely fled, seeking refuge from looming loan sharks and his incessant demands for financial assistance to clear his debts.

Jacob felt the frustration boil within him. Without the Property Deed in his possession, selling the house was not an option. This helplessness fueled his anger, prompting a barrage of furious calls and messages filled with expletives and threats.

“Russell suggests we pay Eileen to keep her quiet. I’m planning to invite her over today for a frank discussion,” Josephine replied, her tone firm.

Josephine had always valued her mother’s counsel, so she nodded in agreement. After finishing the breakfast that Hilda had procured, she set off for Mount Ardwood, the sky still cloaked in darkness.

Just after six, Aveline slipped into her workout attire, lacing up her sneakers as she opened her bedroom door.

Her gaze fell on Xavier, leaning casually against the opposite wall, a smile playing on his lips. He too was dressed for exercise, exuding an air of confidence that made him look tall, fit, and undeniably attractive.

“I was just about to give you another ten minutes. If you hadn’t emerged, I would have gone for a run alone,” he teased lightly.

Aveline chose to ignore him, her expression icy as she descended the stairs, her mind racing with thoughts.

Xavier followed closely behind, his voice warm and inviting. “The landscaped garden in this community is really lovely, perfect for a run. You can hear the birds singing and smell the flowers blooming.”

As they reached the bottom of the stairs, Aveline made a beeline for the main gate, her determination unwavering. Xavier reached out, grasping her arm gently. “You haven’t warmed up yet. Please don’t sprain your ankle again like last time,” he cautioned, genuine concern evident in his tone.
