Vivian Hayes, the PR director, quickly swiped on her tablet,
pulling up a social media trend chart. “The related topic has
surpassed a hundred million views in three hours. The group’s
stock price has already started to fluctuate.”
Roderick’s eyes darkened. “Suppress it.”
“We’re already on it, but it’s not having much effect…”
Vivian gave a bitter smile. “Nanette is very smart. She’s painted
herself as the victim and even hinted that Kev’s psychological
problems… were caused by his family.”
Madeleine clenched her fists, her nails digging deep into her
palms.
Roderick’s gaze swept over everyone in the conference room,
his voice low and oppressive. “The things Nanette did to Kev-
it’s impossible she left no evidence behind.
Surveillance, recordings, medical records–check them all
again.”
Mariah shook her head. “We’ve gone through them repeatedly.
Chapter 126
The kindergarten has too many surveillance blind spots, and Nanette is very cautious. She’s never alone with the child in any environment with recording devices.”
Vivian added, “And her psychological consultation records are airtight. They’re all standardized treatment procedures; you
can’t find anything wrong with them.”
Roderick’s knuckles tapped on the desk, each tap like a dull
clap of thunder.
“Then check her private communications, bank transactions,
social connections. She can’t be completely flawless.”
Just as Mariah was about to respond, her phone vibrated.
She glanced down at the caller ID, her brow furrowing slightly.
“It’s a call from the kindergarten.”
She pressed the answer key, and after a brief exchange, her
expression changed drastically.
After hanging up, she looked up at Roderick, her gaze sharp
behind her lenses.
“There’s a new lead. A janitor at the kindergarten said she
accidentally overheard Nanette on the phone, mentioning

something about medicine.”
Madeleine’s heart skipped a beat. “What medicine?”
“The janitor didn’t catch the specific name, but Nanette’s tone
was very tense, like she was confirming the dosage and side
effects.”
Roderick’s eyes turned ice–cold. “Check her prescription
purchase history. Now.”
Gerry moved quickly, stepping out immediately to make a call.
A cold sweat broke out on Madeleine’s back. She turned her
head, her expression panicked as she met Roderick’s eyes.
He patted Madeleine’s back, his eyes full of reassurance.
“I’ll contact Bradley and have him take Kev for a check–up, to
see if there’s any drug residue.”
“Okay.”
The conference room fell into a brief silence.
After a moment, Mr. Eleanor spoke up.
“If it is medicine… I’m more inclined to think it’s a psychiatric
Chapter 126
drug, used to aid in psychological control.”
“What?”
Madeleine’s heart trembled, the pain almost suffocating her.
Mr. Eleanor frowned again. “It would be great if we could find
the drug, of course, but when I was talking with Kevin yesterday,
he didn’t mention taking any medicine.”
After a long silence, he continued, “Actually, there’s another
way. We could try hypnotherapy.”
“Kev has been under Nanette’s long–term psychological
suggestion, but his subconscious must remember the truth. If
we can guide him to recall the key scene…”
“No!”
Madeleine cut him off almost instantly. She remembered the
last time she’d recalled the past in a dream, how the pain had
washed over her like a tide, making her completely unable to
breathe.
She just couldn’t accept putting her son through that kind of
pain:
Chapter 126
“He’s so little. What if he can’t handle it?”
Mr. Eleanor reassured her, “I’ll keep it within a safe range. We’ll
only do a light hypnosis, with the goal of triggering his
situational memory. We won’t touch the core trauma.”
Roderick reached out and squeezed Madeleine’s.
“You’re the one who always says we should listen to the child’s
opinion, aren’t you? So why don’t we ask Kev?”
