Chapter 127
Madeleine watched him, wanting to speak but holding back.
After a brief silence, Kevin put down his glass and was the first
to speak.
“Mom, do you guys suspect Mr. Osborn is a bad person?”
Madeleine was surprised by the child’s intelligence but couldn’t
bear to explain the situation to him. For a moment, she was
hesitant and conflicted, not knowing how to begin.
She forced a smile. “Why do you say that?”
“Because from yesterday to today, a lot of people have come to
ask me what Mr. Osborn has said to me recently, and they also
asked if he gave me anything to eat.”
As Kevin spoke, he lowered his head, the emotions in his eyes
hidden from view.
Madeleine felt uneasy..
For a child, Nanette was the psychologist he had trusted since he was little, someone he could share his thoughts and secrets

with.
To tell him now that the person he had always trusted was a
bad person.
Wouldn’t that be too cruel for a little boy?
At this thought, Madeleine felt a sharp pain grip her heart.
“Maddie, if you don’t think Mr. Osborn is a bad person, Mommy
won’t ask you anymore, we…”
“That’s not it, Mom.”
Kevin looked up, his gaze firm as he looked at Madeleine.
“I trust you, Mom. Since you think there’s a problem with Mr.
Osborn, then there must be a problem. It’s just… it’s just that I
didn’t notice anything, and that makes me feel really
uncomfortable.”
Madeleine’s mouth fell open in surprise, and her eyes instantly
grew warm.
So this was the reason the child felt uncomfortable?
He was still too young to know the feeling of guilt, so when he couldn’t answer everyone’s questions, he felt this discomfort.
Chapter 127
It wasn’t because he trusted Mr. Osborn that he felt
uncomfortable…
It was because he trusted his mom so much that he felt guilty…
“Kev…” Madeleine’s voice choked up as she reached out, pulling
the little guy’s shoulders and letting him lean into her embrace.
Blood is thicker than water. For the first time, she truly felt the
power of that phrase.
So there really was someone who could trust her
unconditionally and without reservation.
She squeezed Kevin’s small hand, took a deep breath, and said,
“It’s not your fault. You don’t have to feel uncomfortable.
Maddie, Mommy won’t let anyone hurt you.”
“I won’t let anyone hurt Mommy, either.”
Kevin looked up, “Mr. Osborn is hurting Mommy, right?”
Before Madeleine could speak, Kevin continued:
“Mr. Osborn has been talking to me about Dad and Mom lately.
I can tell he’s not happy when he talks about Mom.”
Madeleine was surprised; the little guy was already so good at

reading people.
In truth, Kevin wasn’t particularly observant; he just instinctively
paid close attention whenever his mom was mentioned.
He didn’t want anyone to dislike his mom.
“Mommy, I don’t want Mr. Osborn to keep doing bad things.
What should I do? I’m so scared.”
As he spoke, he hugged Madeleine tightly, as if he were afraid
she would disappear.
Madeleine hesitated, struggling for a long moment before
finally speaking, “Kev, if there was a way… it might help you
remember some of the bad things Mr. Osborn did, but it would
be a little painful. Would you be will-”
“I’ll do it!”
Before Madeleine could finish asking, Kevin immediately
agreed.
He didn’t even know what it involved. The mere thought of
being able to help his mom, of stopping others from hurting her,
was enough for him to agree without a second thought.
Chapter 127
He didn’t care about anything else.
The next morning, Kevin was the first to wake up.
He saw his mom and dad sleeping on either side of him and
