Chapter 253
Inside and outside, it was two completely different scenes.
By the time one movie was over, the drinking party outside still
hadn’t ended. Madeleine and her son were yawning together.
“Rebecca, how’s your Professor Shaw with his liquor?”
“How should I know?”
Rebecca muttered, then shot her an annoyed glare. “What do
you mean, ‘my‘? Don’t spread rumors.”
“Hehe.”
Madeleine chuckled and leaned in to look into her eyes.
“You were distracted during the movie. What were you thinking
about? Was it because of Adrian?”
“Don’t be ridiculous. I’m going to my room to sleep.”
After she spoke, Isabella and Charlotte over there also said they
were tired and ready to rest.
Chapter 253
The estate had plenty of empty rooms, one for each person, so
there was no worry about not having a place to sleep.
Rebecca went back to her room, sat on the bed, and
immediately checked the time on her phone.
Eleven o’clock sharp.
Was Adrian still outside drinking?
Did that mean he’d forgotten what he said this afternoon?
Something about only giving her until midnight to think it over.
So what about now?
Did she still need to consider it?
“So annoying. Isn’t he usually so meticulous about things?”
Rebecca tossed her phone aside, grabbed her pajamas, and
went to take a shower.
Eleven–thirty.
After her shower and skincare routine, Rebecca sat on the bed
and checked her phone again.
Chapter 253
There were no messages from Adrian, and she had no idea if he
was still drinking.
She took a deep breath and grabbed a random file to work on.
Ten minutes passed, and she hadn’t even finished a single
page.
She ran her hands through her hair in frustration, then got up to
pour herself a glass of water.
Eleven forty–five.
“Only fifteen minutes left?
What’s going on…”
She muttered, getting out of bed, slipping on her slippers, and
tiptoeing out to the living room.
Of the group that was drinking, only Bradley and Simon
remained. Their eyes were glazed over, and they were slurring
their words.
“Bradley, where’s Adrian?”
“He… went back to his room.”
Chapter 253
“Oh.”
Rebecca turned to go back, a tightness in her chest.
He must have forgotten.
Or he’s just too drunk.
Annoyed, she started back to her room, but hesitated as she
passed Adrian’s door.
Maybe I should go in and check?
What if he’s really drunk?
With that thought, she did just that.
At eleven–fifty, Rebecca knocked on Adrian’s door.
After just one knock, the door cracked open from the inside,
and a hand forcefully pulled Rebecca in.
She didn’t even have time to cry out before she was plunged
into darkness.
My heart was pounding, about to burst out of my chest.
Rebecca was pressed against the door, her eyes not yet

adjusted to the darkness, unable to see anything clearly.
She could only hear heavy breathing and smell the strong scent
of alcohol.
“You… you let go first.”
Rebecca spoke in a low voice, which trembled slightly.
Fortunately, the drunk Adrian was agreeable.
Rebecca made her request, and he complied without a word.
He let go, and without the restraint, Rebecca finally breathed a
sigh of relief.
She fumbled along the wall behind her and turned on a sconce.
It wasn’t bright, but the dim, yellow light was enough for her to
see what Adrian looked like right now.
He really looked like he had drunk a lot. His glasses were
nowhere to be seen, his cheeks had an unnatural flush, and his
eyes were very hazy.
“Are you drunk?”
Adrian didn’t say anything, just unfastened his watch, tossed it
onto the nightstand, and stumbled to sit on the edge of the bed.

He was only wearing a gray shirt, its sleeves rolled up, revealing
