Chapter 275
Besides, weren’t there things she hadn’t told Adrian, too?
Looking at Rebecca, Madeleine understood a few things.
She wasn’t confident when it came to romance, or rather,
relationships in general.
Even with their own friendship, if she hadn’t been so warm and persistent from the start, it would have been hard to get close
to someone with Rebecca’s personality.
I just hope Professor Shaw can be more proactive.
Someone like Rebecca needs to feel two hundred percent loved
before she’s willing to open her heart.
That’s not an easy thing to do.
With that in mind, while Rebecca was looking at the menu,
Madeleine picked up her phone and sent a text to Roderick,
asking him to find out about Adrian’s family.
Rebecca was her friend, after all. Some preparations had to be
made in advance.
Eating good food and chatting about gossip, much of Madeleine’s exhaustion faded away.
The two of them finished dinner, talking and laughing, and
decided to go wander around a nearby mall
Just as they walked out of the restaurant, that feeling of being
watched returned to Rebecca.
She glanced behind her out of the corner of her eye, but couldn’t see clearly.
It looked like she wasn’t just seeing things.
“Maddie, could you go get me a bubble tea?”
Rebecca said, “It’s just around that corner.”
Madeleine looked at her, confused. “Don’t you hate that super
sweet stuff? You used to judge me for drinking it.”
“As your bestie, your taste has rubbed off on me.”
Madeleine was very pleased with that reason. “No need to feel
bad about catching my good taste. It’s a shame I’m watching
my calories for dancing and can’t have any, but you’ll let me
have a sip to try it later, okay?”
“Sure, go ahead. I’ll wait for you here.”
Once she was far enough away, the smile on Rebecca’s face
vanished.
She quickly ducked into a secluded alley.
The footsteps followed, just as she’d expected. She timed it perfectly, spinning around and slamming the person against the wall.
When she saw who it was, the fierce look in Rebecca’s eyes
vanished, replaced by shock and confusion as she stared at
her.
“How… could it be you?”
Rebecca finished speaking in surprise and quickly let go.
The girl in front of her was only a teenager, still with a youthful
air, and she looked a bit flustered, probably startled by Rebecca.
“Re… Rebecca.”
Rebecca looked at the face that looked quite a bit like Leo’s, her emotions complicated.
This was Leo’s sister, Lillie Bishop.
“Lillie, why are you following me?”
Lillie, wearing a backpack, clutched the straps with both hands,
her gaze wandering, not daring to meet Rebecca’s eyes.
But after a moment’s hesitation, it was as if she’d thought of
something.
She raised her head.
“Rebecca, I just saw you.”
“That’s obvious. You’ve been following me this whole time.”
Rebecca paused as she spoke, seeming to finally realize what
she meant by “saw you.”
“What are you trying to say?”
Lillie pressed her lips together, her gaze fixed on Rebecca with
a hint of harsh questioning.
“Are you dating someone?”
So she had seen her with Adrian.
Rebecca’s face darkened, and she said nothing.

Lillie was getting agitated. “I saw everything. You were with that
guy in glasses, holding hands, and you even went to the
movies.”
Rebecca still didn’t speak, feeling as if something had just
slammed into her chest.
Staring into Lillie’s eyes, so similar to Leo’s, she could see
swirling confusion, hurt, and even a hint of angry betrayal.
“So, you are dating someone, aren’t you?”
Lillie repeated, her hand gripping the bag’s strap tighter, her
