Chapter 311
“Adrian, there are some things… about my past, that I haven’t
had a chance to tell you. When I’ve sorted out.my feelings, I’ll
tell you everything, okay?”
Adrian’s gaze softened.
“Okay.”
Perfect timing.
He had some things to tell her, too.
Roderick and Bradley had been chatting with a few elders, but
after a while, he lost interest, noticing that Madeleine hadn’t
returned yet.
“You stay here with them. I’m going to go check.”
He stood up and patted Bradley’s shoulder.
Bradley’s face showed no expression, but inwardly, he couldn’t
help but roll his eyes.
Chapter 311
This guy probably has separation anxiety.
It’s not like he’s been away from his wife and kid for that long.
When he got back to the rear courtyard, he saw Madeleine
talking to Kevin from a distance.
As they talked, they went over to play with the small animals kept in the yard.
They were all harmless little pets that the child loved.
Roderick stood there watching from afar for a while, the corners of his lips curling up as he lingered for a long time.
Maybe it was telepathy, but Madeleine suddenly glanced in his
direction.
She noticed Roderick and quickly waved him over.
“What were you doing just standing over there for so long?
You looked silly.”
“Silly?”
Roderick raised an eyebrow. “Silly, and you still love me this
much.”
Chapter 311
“So narcissistic.”
Her words weren’t kind, but Madeleine had a big smile on her
face.
The two of them chatted for a bit before realizing something
was off.
Hmm… the little guy stuck between them was looking up at them with pleading eyes.
Oh no, Mommy and Daddy were so caught up in their
conversation they completely forgot about their baby. What to
do?
“Come on, let’s take a picture, the three of us.”
Madeleine, worried about leaving her son out, quickly pulled
Roderick down to squat with her.
“Roderick, you get in the front.”
My face looks smaller in the back.
Roderick sighed fondly. Madeleine had said the same thing
every time they took a picture together since they started
dating.
Chapter 311
Just as he raised his phone to find an angle, a call lit up
Roderick’s screen.
It was Owen.
His eyelid twitched, and he quickly stood up.
“Hold on, it’s my dad.”
Roderick gestured to Madeleine, stood up, and walked aside to
answer.
Madeleine, who had been smiling and hugging her son tightly,
lost her smile and watched Roderick’s back with a confused
look.
Kevin also quieted down obediently, blinking his big eyes as he
watched his dad.
Roderick’s father was originally going to come for Mr.
Whitman’s birthday, but he decided to stay home and take care
of Mrs. Miller, considering she was pregnant and not feeling
well.
He was thinking of inviting Rebecca’s family over to the
Livingston’s place for a private get–together in a few days.
Chapter 311
A call at a time like this probably wasn’t good news.
“Hey Dad, what’s wrong?”
On the other end of the line, Owen’s voice had lost its usual
calm, laced with clear anxiety and a barely perceptible tremble:
“Roderick, where are you?”
“At Mr. Whitman’s birthday party. Dad, what happened?”
“It’s Mrs. Miller… something happened to her. We’re on our way
to the downtown hospital now. It’s not looking good.”
Even for Owen, a man who had navigated the business world for years, his voice was now uncontrollably tense and worried.
Roderick’s heart sank.
“Is Bradley with you?
Have him contact the hospital for me.”
Roderick glanced back at Madeleine and mouthed to her, “Call
Bradley.
Madeleine understood and immediately pulled out her phone.
“Dad, try to stay calm. Where are you now?
Chapter 311
On the way to the hospital?”
