“The Dynasty Club…” Roderick repeated the name, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. “Got it.”
By the time Madeleine returned to The Willow Creek Manor, the birthday party was almost over.
Rebecca was busy seeing guests off, but when she saw
Madeleine arrive, she took a moment to go over.
“How’s Mrs. Miller?”
“She’s not out of the woods yet.”
Madeleine pressed the bridge of her nose. She looked
exhausted, and her eyes were a little red.
Rebecca raised a hand and patted Madeleine’s shoulder. “Don’t
be scared. We’re all here.”
“Yeah. Where’s Kevin? Was he good?”
Rebecca lifted her chin. Not far away, Adrian and Kevin were
sitting on the sofa together, their heads–one large, one small-
close together, discussing something over a book.
Chapter 319
“He wasn’t much trouble at all. He’s been talking with Adrian the
whole time. You know how well–behaved your son is.”
As Rebecca spoke, her gaze suddenly softened.
You know, this scene is actually quite pleasant to look at.
“I really didn’t expect it. Adrian usually seems so stiff, but he’s
surprisingly good with kids.”
There was a hint of subtle admiration and amusement in
Rebecca’s tone.
“Your son has so many questions, from why rabbits have long ears to how spaceships fly. And Professor Shaw actually had answers for all of them. The two of them ended up talking for
the whole afternoon.”
Madeleine followed her gaze.
Under the warm light, Adrian had his head slightly tilted, patiently listening to whatever Kevin was whispering, his eyes behind his glasses focused and gentle.
Kevin, meanwhile, was looking up with his little face, his big
eyes filled with curiosity and a rare, complete trust, his small
hand pointing at the book from time to time.
Chapter 319
The scene was indeed incredibly harmonious, carrying a quiet
and warm strength that slightly dispelled the gloom and
exhaustion in Madeleine’s heart.
“Yeah, it seems like Kevin really likes Professor Shaw.”
Madeleine said softly, a wave of gratitude washing over her.
While she and Roderick were overwhelmed, it was a huge
comfort to know her son was being looked after so well and
patiently.
“More than just ‘like‘.”
Rebecca raised an eyebrow. “I think Adrian is about to take your
son on as his prized student. I just heard him ask Kevin if he
wants to be a scientist and visit his lab someday.”
Madeleine was a little surprised, then she couldn’t help but
laugh. “Professor Shaw really is… always on the job.”
Just then, the discussion between the two over there seemed
to come to a pause.
Adrian noticed Madeleine and said something softly to Kevin.
Kevin immediately looked up, and his eyes lit up when he saw

Madeleine. He slid right off the sofa, ran over on his short little
legs, and hugged Madeleine’s leg.
“Mommy!”
His childish voice was full of longing. “Is Mrs. Miller okay?”
Madeleine’s heart melted instantly. She crouched down and
pulled her son’s soft little body into her arms.
“Mrs. Miller is still resting. The doctors and nurses are working
hard to help her. She’ll get better. Was Kevin a good boy today?
Did you thank Auntie Rebecca and Mr. Shaw?”
Kevin nodded hard and said seriously,
“I was very good. Thank you, Auntie Rebecca. Thank you, Mr.
Shaw.”
After speaking, he turned his head and gave a shy smile to
Adrian, who was walking over.
Adrian walked over to stand beside Rebecca and gave
Madeleine a gentle nod. “You’re back. The boy is very smart,
and very well–behaved.”
“Sorry to have troubled you, Professor Shaw.”
Chapter 319
Madeleine thanked him sincerely.
“It was nothing. Kevin is a very likable kid.”
Adrian pushed up his glasses, his tone sincere.
As Rebecca looked at Adrian’s gentle and polite scholarly demeanor, she recalled the different side he’d occasionally revealed that afternoon, and a smile touched her lips.
