Watch Me Win Alpha (Olivia and Ethan) novel Chapter 381

**TITLE: Alpha Novel 381**
**Chapter 381**

I brushed off his derisive comment, fully aware that any reaction from me would only serve to inflate his ego. “If Jess is returning, shouldn’t you have known about it before today, considering you’re the vice president of this company?”

My words hung in the air, momentarily silencing him. He snapped his mouth shut, caught off guard.

A wave of satisfaction washed over me, buoying my spirits.

“From now on, you should be more mindful of how you address others,” Korbin cautioned, his gaze narrowing ominously. “There are many things you remain blissfully ignorant of. If you don’t tread carefully, let’s just say the consequences won’t be in your favor.”

Rather than instilling fear, his veiled threat sent a surge of anger through me, igniting my skin with a prickling sensation. Yet, I was determined not to grant him the satisfaction of knowing he had struck a nerve.

“I really need to get back to work. Enjoy your little conspiracy theories,” I replied cheerfully, waving goodbye as I exited his office.

However, the moment I turned away, the smile evaporated from my lips. A chill gripped my heart as I contemplated Jess’s imminent return. Once she stepped back into this environment, everything would shift irrevocably.

Upon reaching the upper floor, Gai immediately seized my hand and pulled me toward the pantry.

“I need to talk to you privately,” she whispered urgently, her complexion pale and her eyes glistening with anxiety.

Once Gai and I were sequestered in the cramped pantry, she swiftly closed the door behind us.

I shifted nervously from one foot to the other, the tight confines of the space amplifying my unease. However, it was the look of sheer worry etched on Gai’s face that truly unsettled me.

“What’s going on?” I asked, desperate for her to just spit it out. After the tumultuous morning I had endured, I wasn’t sure how much more bad news I could bear. “Is everything okay?”

Gai took a deep breath, her eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that sent shivers down my spine. “You need to brace yourself for what I’m about to reveal.”

I swallowed hard, the lump in my throat feeling like a boulder, and squared my shoulders, attempting to summon the courage that was already waning. “Alright. I’m ready.”

A cold wave of realization washed over me, freezing me in place. “And she’s going to think that Alexander has feelings for me…”

Gai let out a derisive snort. “Anyone with half a brain can see the way he looks at you. It’s obvious he’s in love with you.”

Heat rushed to my cheeks, and I averted my gaze to the floor, feeling suddenly vulnerable. “I should probably get back to my desk.” I opened the pantry door, craving the comfort of the outside world.

“Just be careful, Olivia,” Gai urged in a hushed tone. “I have a strong feeling that… something really bad is on the horizon.”

My heart raced violently against my ribcage, but I remained silent, unwilling to give voice to my fears.

I refused to let myself be consumed by fear just because Gai was feeling particularly superstitious.
