Chapter 18
## Chapter 18: A Violent Jolt
“Witnessing the ceremony?” Could it be that these people were sent by Liam to attend his wedding.
Britney?
Ryan’s smile grew wider and wider the more he considered the possibility. “Go, send over some of our finest pastries and drinks. Don’t neglect our guests.”
“Don’t worry about anything else,” he thought. Liam wasn’t just attending his wedding; he’d brought so many prominent figures with him. It seemed his position at Cauldron Group was set to improve significantly after this wedding. Liam was clearly ready to give him more important roles.
“Yes, sir…”
Meanwhile, at the Lewis family’s main residence, Nelson circled Liam several times, completely astonished. “Wow, I got the invitation and thought the Cauldron Group’s market value had gone up again. Who would’ve thought I’d get here and find out it’s your wedding!”
“This is hilarious. The legendary ice king, who’s always kept women at arm’s length, is actually having a shotgun wedding? Which lucky lady managed to snag you?”
Liam didn’t say anything, but Nelson and Benjamin, who knew him well, could see the softness in
a clear sign of his anticipation and seriousness about the wedding.
“What’s with that look? Are you serious?” Nelson was even more shocked.
Benjamin, on the other hand, understood a bit more. “So, you finally made your move?”
his eyes –
Liam remained silent, simply gazing upstairs toward the master bedroom. It was a little far from the banquet hall, so it wouldn’t be too noisy. Plus, he’d specifically asked Amaya to come early and keep her company.
She shouldn’t be nervous.
Benjamin offered a faint smile, while Nelson was even more flabbergasted. “Mr. Lewis, Liam, you haven’t been possessed, have you? The wedding hasn’t even happened, and you’re already doting on her like she’s your

win you over.”
“No way, I gotta see who this person is, who could actually win you.
Liam roughly grabbed hold of the eager Nelson, his eyes darkening with a clear warning.
Nelson, pressured, had no choice but to suppress his curiosity for now. “Alright, alright, I won’t go. Anyway, the wedding’s not far off. I don’t believe you can keep her hidden forever.”
Just then, the items Ryan had sent began to arrive.
Benjamin casually picked up a bottle of ’82 red wine, raising an eyebrow with a smirk. “So eager? Didn’t you
tell him?”
Chapter 18
“Why would I tell him?” A chill spread across Liam’s face.
Benjamin gave a thumbs–up. Ryan had brought this upon himself; no one else was to blame.
Britney was still very nervous when she woke up that morning, but once she arrived at the old mansion, she realized Liam had prepared everything. She didn’t need to do anything except sit there and let the professional makeup artist and Linda work their magic. Amaya was by her side, holding a delicate crystal snack dish, enthusiastically chattering about how stunning the old mansion was, and occasionally
hand–feeding Britney.
Britney looked at her reflection in the mirror and the relaxed atmosphere around her. It felt less like she was getting married and more like she was just heading out for a stroll. She thought about what Liam had said last night. Could she really try to rely on him? She laughed, shaking her head. She must be out of her mind. Given Liam’s status, if he was being so kind to her, it was probably out of respect for old Mr. Lewis. How could she be so unrealistic? Besides, she already knew the consequences of trusting others, hadn’t she? How could she still be so naive? If Liam was trying his best to be a good husband, then she should try her best to be a good wife. Britney gave a perfect smile at her reflection.
Compared to Britney’s easygoing demeanor, Skylar was far more anxious. She had already put on her wedding dress and even her veil. She had locked herself and the makeup artist in the room, nervously twisting her fingers, counting every second, terrified that Ryan might suddenly decide to show up.
Suddenly, a knock came at the door. Skylar cautiously gestured for the makeup artist to speak. “Who is it?”
“It’s me,” Allison’s voice came through. “Most of the guests have arrived now, and it’s almost time. We should
go.”
Hearing this, Skylar took a deep breath and opened the door. She could hear the wedding music from outside. This wedding was completely different from the previous one. This was a real wedding, with guests consisting of the Lewis and Simpson families‘ closest friends and business partners. Soon, that formidable figure from the Lewis family would also arrive to witness the ceremony. As soon as the wedding march began and she walked toward Ryan, she would become Mrs. Lewis, Ryan’s legitimate wife. She would no longer be a hidden third party, no longer fearing being abandoned. Skylar took a deep breath, straightened her shoulders, and headed toward the wedding venue.
Ryan had already prepared to welcome his bride. He had even instructed someone to place a chair in front of his father’s seat, specifically for Liam, and had sent someone to invite him. He figured Liam was his elder, and having him stay on stage for a while would be beneficial.
The guests were seated, and the wedding march began. Ryan stood tall and handsome, his face radiant. He watched the graceful figure in the beautiful wedding dress slowly walk toward him. His heart inexplicably began to beat faster. He still remembered that accidental fire, how they had defiantly rushed toward each other. He was injured protecting her, and she lost her left ear for him. He was in the hospital then, and he’d often see her sitting alone in the hospital garden, quietly watching others talk. Back then, all she could hear was a bothersome ringing in her ear, she couldn’t even hear him call out to her. Ryan’s heart ached terribly.
Chapter
He cautiously asked her, “Do you regret it?” She shook her head without a moment’s hesitation. She said that no matter how many times, she would make the same choice, that it was an instinctive choice.
Ryan thought that perhaps he had decided to marry Britney since then. She was different from the sycophants around him; she cared about him simply because he was Ryan, regardless of his status. As he watched the approaching figure, his resolve grew stronger. If Britney truly disliked him being overly intimate with other women, then he would rein it in from now on and stop parading Skylar around. He could give her
more security.
The figure drew closer. Ryan eagerly took a few steps forward, but then abruptly stopped. His eyes jolted
violently. He suddenly stopped in his tracks, staring in disbelief at the person before him.
