What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 177

Kaia saw the text message, but she chose to completely ignore it.

The fact that Noelle wasn't throwing a tantrum proved that she had probably known about this all along.

Finnian must have discussed this move with her before making it official. This was a joint decision they made together.

Kaia felt cold to her very bones.

People always say the one who isn't loved is the other woman, but Kaia firmly believed that the one without the marriage certificate was the real homewrecker.

Noelle had expected Kaia to ignore her, and she honestly couldn't care less.

That evening, Noelle arranged a dinner for the two mothers to meet.

The private dining room in the Café overlooked a beautifully landscaped garden. Pushing open the windows revealed a vibrant, blooming spring view.

Noelle arrived with Elaine. The mother and daughter were starting to look more and more alike, both radiating an air of polished wealth.

When Pearl saw Elaine, she immediately looked nervous and out of place. She stood up and greeted her warmly. "Mrs. Sanders, thank you so much for raising Noelle. I've always owed you a massive thank you. If you hadn't brought her into the Sanders family back then, this child might have..."

Pearl's eyes welled up with tears as she spoke.

Noelle cut in smoothly, "Mom, we're here to have dinner, not to reminisce. Let's not bring up the past."

Pearl quickly wiped her eyes and nervously sat back down.

Elaine's gaze swept over Pearl with a mix of scrutiny and cold indifference. "Why haven't you tried to find Noelle all these years? Did you start a new family and decide you didn't want her anymore?"

Pearl immediately raised her hand as if swearing an oath. "Mrs. Sanders, I swear to you, no matter how heartless I might seem, I could never abandon my own child. I truly had no choice. I was in a terrible car accident and lost my memory."

As she spoke, Pearl pulled back her hair to reveal a faint scar on her scalp. "I only got my memories back a year ago. My ex-husband drank too much. We were out making a delivery that day, and it started pouring rain. The car slipped on the mountain road and crashed into a ravine. I was thrown from the vehicle and knocked unconscious."

Recalling the trauma, Pearl still looked visibly shaken, breaking out in a cold sweat.

Looking at the scar, Elaine said flatly, "You're lucky to be alive. Her father wasn't so fortunate. He was already gone by the time they found him. I was the one who arranged his funeral."

Pearl thanked her profusely again.

Noelle hated hearing about the past. She quickly poured tea for both of them and said, "I live with the Sanders family now. From now on, I only have one mother. Moving forward, I'll be calling you Aunt Pearl."

Pearl froze, looking absolutely devastated.

Elaine picked up her teacup, took a sip, and waited for Pearl's response.

Noelle's face was ice-cold, her eyes locking onto Pearl with intense pressure. "Aunt Pearl, do you have a problem with me calling you that?"
