What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 537

Mr. Kent threw his hands up, completely caught off guard. The original partnership between Cytogene and Aethelstan had been brokered by Finnian himself.

Finnian had only ever laid the groundwork for the initial deal, leaving the granular details to Aethelstan's team. Now, he had no intention of micromanaging Veridian's end of the bargain either. He trusted Kaia implicitly. If she said the terms were unacceptable, he was going to back her play and defend that boundary to the death.

The very next morning, Kaia received an email from Cytogene's Legal Department. Their tone had drastically shifted. They agreed to revise the IP clauses entirely to meet Veridian's demands.

Kaia stared at the screen, rereading the email several times to ensure it wasn't a trick. She immediately called Silas and gave him the green light to proceed.

Over the phone, Silas casually mentioned that Finnian had personally negotiated the concession with Cytogene's CEO late last night.

Kaia paused. Technically, Veridian was operating under Aethelstan's umbrella, so it made perfect corporate sense for Finnian to step in. It was standard operating procedure.

Later that day, Kaia was wrapping up a meeting with her team in her temporary office when a knock sounded at the door.

Finnian stood in the doorway, wearing a dark gray coat. He clearly wasn't fully recovered; his voice was still raspy and slightly nasal.

"Can I help you?" she asked, her tone strictly professional.

He wasn't empty-handed. He carried several boxes of local artisanal pastries and desserts that Dexter had procured for him.

"You've been working incredibly hard these past few days," Finnian said softly, stepping inside to place the boxes on her desk. "I heard you skipped breakfast. I picked these up. Try to eat something."

Kaia glanced at the boxes. "Thank you for the gesture, Mr. Sanders. You're a very attentive boss."

The title 'Mr. Sanders' grated on his nerves. "There's no need for that. You've poured blood, sweat, and tears into Veridian. As your boss, it's a privilege to have an executive of your caliber."

Kaia looked up at him, a mocking smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth.
