Whats She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 503

Silas hadn’t expected Finnian to say something like that. He paused for a moment before a smirk curled his lips. That’s an interesting thing for you to say. If it’s a prize won through sheer capability, I’d gladly accept it.

Finnian’s expression darkened even further. Silas was still holding a grudge over what happened to his sister back then, wasn’t he? Was the whole point of him returning from abroad just to steal his

wife?

A trace of profound irritation shadowed Finnian’s brow.

By the time the Celebration Dinner wrapped up, it was already eleven o’clock. Finnian had too much to drink and was sitting in a lounge while the guests downstairs gradually departed.

Dexter walked over and said, Mr. Sanders, Dr. Chavez is leaving.

Finnian stood up and saw Kaia standing in the hallway, chatting with a few industry peers. A moment later, she waved goodbye to them and walked toward an elevator.

Finnian closed the distance with a few long strides.

Kaia!

Kaia turned around, surprised to see Finnian stepping out from an adjacent corridor.

Thank you for coming today. I didn’t think you’d show up.

Kaia replied coolly, I came representing Veridian Future. If it were up to me personally, I definitely wouldn’t have attended.

Finnian was taken aback. Right at that moment, the elevator doors slowly began to close.

At first, Kaia was looking down at her phone. As the doors were about to shut, she looked up, her gaze fixed through the narrowing gap on Finnian, who stood rooted to the spot until the doors completely sealed shut.

Finnian planted his hands on his hips, glancing back at Dexter. I told you to look into her past crush. on Simon Quinn. Do you have any news yet?

Dexter looked a bit awkward and replied, The people Dr. Chavez did research with back then are all highprofile individuals now. I’ve managed to arrange a meeting with one of them for the day after tomorrow. I heard she didn’t get along well with Dr. Chavez back then. I’m not sure if she’ll know anything about this.

Finnian nodded. Report back to me the second you find out.”

Nine o’clock the next morning!

Kaia parked her car in the lot at city hall. She had arrived very early. Her appointment with Finnian was for ten o’clock, but she showed up an hour ahead of time.

She leaned back in her seat, listening to a nameless, soothing melody, her heart bearing the weight of

old scars.

Chapter 503

Her vision blurred slightly before she pushed the car door open, grabbing the organized folder of documents. She then pulled a pair of sunglasses from her bag and slid them onto her face.

She walked up the steps. The sun was shining brightly today, casting long, pianokeylike shadows of gray and white across the floor of the long corridor.

Kaia picked a chair and sat down, tilting her head back to let the warm sunlight wash over her. Suddenly, she noticed the entrance to the marriage registration office nearby.

She remembered seven years ago, when they had walked through those very doors.

She had followed behind him, keeping a halfstep distance.

Actually, when they got their marriage license that day, all the other couples had been walking arm in arm or holding hands. Only they had kept a stark distance.

She had wanted to link her arm through his, but Finnian had walked too fast. With his long legs and rushed demeanor, she had to scurry just to keep up, terrified that if she lagged behind, the walk to getting their license would drag out even longer.
