Chapter 514

Simon nodded. “I know. I just wanted you to know how I feel. If there ever comes a day when you’re ready to start over, would you consider me?”

“You shouldn’t put yourself in a position where you’re waiting to be chosen…” Kaia felt both helpless and heartbroken for him.

“But waiting to be chosen is all I can do,” Simon said softly.

Kaia was stunned. Those who are favored can afford to be fearless, while those who beg for love can only quietly wait as candidates. She had once been in that exact same position, except she was lucky enough to be the one Finnian chose.

“Alright, I invited you out to enjoy the food. Friends can always get together. As for everything else, we can talk about it later.” Simon didn’t want to pressure her. She had just escaped a failed marriage and needed understanding and support.

Kaia offered him a soft smile. “Okay. Later.”

The two resumed eating, their conversation shifting to work. Kaia discussed the collaboration between Veridian Future and Cytogene AG, and the look in Simon’s eyes filled with admiration and an

undeniable tenderness.

Kaia had taken a cab to the restaurant, so when it was time to leave, Simon drove her back to her

apartment.

The car pulled up to the main entrance of her complex. Simon unbuckled his seatbelt, got out, and walked around to open Kaia’s door.

She hadn’t expected him to be such a gentleman. She unbuckled her belt, looked up at his warm, handsome face, and smiled. “Thanks for bringing me home.”

Simon looked down at her. The interior light of the car illuminated her face, highlighting her stunning, delicate features. “Kaia, no matter how long it takes, I’ll wait.”

Kaia froze, her throat tightening. For a moment, she had no idea how to respond.

She didn’t want anyone wasting their time waiting for her, but the firm, unwavering determination in Simon’s eyes made it impossible for her to shoot him down.

She simply nodded and stepped out of the car.

She had barely walked into the complex when she spotted a familiar father and daughter sitting

under the shadows of a tree.

Brynlee had fallen asleep, her soft little body curled securely in Finnian’s arms.

Finnian had witnessed the entire scene at the entrance.

Simon’s gentlemanly demeanor really was quite charming.

After Kaia got out and walked inside, the car slowly pulled away.

Kaia frowned as she looked at the two of them on the bench, then walked over.
