Two years had passed since Lilly Jasmine Tremont was born, and the Tremont mansion had changed in ways none of them could have imagined during the painful years that came before.
The house was no longer quiet, controlled, or arranged around Dreston’s strict routines because Lilly had turned every room into part of her little world, leaving toys in places they did not belong, hiding small shoes beneath expensive furniture, and running through the hallways as if the entire mansion had been built for her alone.
Dreston never complained, In fact, he had become the person who spoiled her the most.
Whenever Cassienne told Lilly that she could not have something, the child would run directly to her father, climb onto his lap, and look at him with wide eyes until he forgot every rule Cassienne had made.
Today, the mansion was full again because the entire family had gathered to celebrate Lilly’s second birthday.
The garden was decorated with soft flowers, balloons, and a small play area for the children, while a long table was arranged beneath the large covered space near the back of the house.
Emily sat with Lilly on her lap, helping her open one gift after another, even though the child had already lost interest in most of them and was more excited about the ribbons.
“Grandma, look,” Lilly said as she lifted a long pink ribbon.
Emily smiled and touched her cheek. “I can see it, my beautiful girl.”
Lilly placed the ribbon around Emily’s neck like a necklace.
“Pretty.”
Emily laughed. “Yes, very pretty.”
Cassienne stood a short distance away, watching them with a soft smile.
Her mother had changed greatly over the past two years, not because every painful memory had disappeared, but because she finally had peace, proper care, and a family that no longer allowed her to feel forgotten.
Joseph sat beside Abigail, watching Lilly and Emily with an expression that showed how much he enjoyed the scene, even though he still tried to act like the serious head of the family.
“Do you think Emily will allow us to hold her today?” he asked quietly.
Abigail looked at him. “She is two years old now. You can simply call her.”
Joseph glanced toward Lilly.
The child was still decorating Emily with ribbons.
“She may refuse.”
Abigail smiled. “You are afraid of a two-year-old.”
“I am not afraid.”
“You sounded like you were.”
Before Joseph could answer, Lilly looked toward them. “Grandpa.”
Joseph immediately sat straight. “Yes, my dear?”
“Come.”
He stood without hesitation and walked toward her.
Abigail shook her head. “He is completely controlled by that child.”
Jessica, who was seated nearby, smiled. “Everyone is.”
Kael stood beside her with one hand resting lightly against her waist, while Jessica held a glass of juice and watched her uncle obey Lilly’s instructions.
Their relationship initially surprised the family, especially when Kael finally came to the house and openly explained his intentions, but the surprise did not last long because it was obvious that Jessica felt something for him too.
She hadn't made the confession easy.
Kael was patient, and with several honest conversations, and enough courage to attend one of her major esports competitions without understanding half of what was happening, but in the end, Jessica allowed herself to accept that loving someone did not mean giving up the career she had worked so hard to build.
Now, they were engaged.
Their wedding was planned for later that year, although Jessica still claimed she had not chosen a final date because her competition schedule came first.
Kael accepted it without complaint.
Nora was also doing well.
After travelling for several months and spending time outside Southvale, she returned with a calmer understanding of what she wanted for herself, and although she and Seth had not rushed into anything, they had remained in contact after meeting outside the restaurant that evening.
Seth visited Southvale several times.
Nora also travelled to see him.
Neither of them had announced an engagement or made any dramatic promise, but the family already noticed that she smiled more whenever his name appeared on her phone.
When Jessica teased her about it, Nora always denied everything.
Nobody believed her.
Daisy and Ray arrived together, with Daisy already talking before they entered the garden.
“I told you we should have left earlier.”
“We arrived on time,” Ray replied.
“The party started twenty minutes ago.”
She walked toward Cassienne and hugged her before bending to greet Lilly, who immediately showed her the ribbon around Emily’s neck.
Daisy and Ray got married several months after Dreston recovered, and although they still argued over small things, their relationship has become one of the happiest in the family.
Ray still remained calm, patient, and quietly devoted to her, while Daisy continued making sure he never became too comfortable.
They balanced each other pretty well.
