SERAPHINA
Whenever I slept next to Ronan, the entire world faded away. My guard would fall, my thoughts would quiet, and I’d sleep soundly completely at peace. The same happened that morning. I slept so deeply that I didn’t even hear the knocking. What finally reached my ears was an unexpected voice calling my name.
“Alpha Seth Darven.”
I instantly froze, my body going rigid even in sleep. That voice… Alpha Jude!
My eyes snapped open, sitting up straight on the bed. And there he was standing right in front of me. My heart dropped into my stomach. Why was he in our room?
Wait, my disguise! And I was sleeping on Ronan’s bed!
My panic faltered when I looked past Alpha Jude and saw Ronan sitting calmly on the edge of his own bed. I glanced around and realized I was back on mine, my scent masked, my hair and appearance perfectly in place. When my gaze met his, Ronan smiled faintly and I understood. He’d moved me, hidden my scent, and fixed everything before Alpha Jude came in.
My heart steadied, but panic still simmered beneath the surface. Alpha Jude never stepped into another Alpha’s room. He had no reason to do that. What was he doing here?
“If you’ve slept enough,” Jude said, folding his arms, “shall we talk?”
I nodded quickly, stepping out of bed and standing tall, even though my mind was spinning. Did he suspect something? My disguise? My identity? Or had someone exposed me? More people knew my secret now, and after that day, Ryker was the biggest threat.
Then Alpha Jude’s sharp voice cut through my thoughts. “Alpha Seth Darven, did you have a fight with Grace?”
I was honestly dumbfounded for a moment, “Grace?” I blinked, confused. “No.”
“Then did she offend you in some way?”
“Never,” I replied, still baffled, “We’re friends.”
His jaw tightened. “Then why haven’t you gone to visit her yet?” he demanded.
I blinked again. He came here…for that?
Alpha Jude stepped closer, his growl a low warning. “Grace was very upset when you guys didn’t visit her. Especially you. She considers you her best friend. So you’d better go see her soon. If I find her eyes wet because of you, I’ll make sure you face the worst trial imaginable.”
He turned sharply toward Ronan. “That warning applies to you too, Alpha Ronan Volkstane.”
With that, he strode out, his back rigid and his frown sharp enough to cut steel.
The moment the door clicked shut, I exhaled shakily, locking it before my legs almost gave out. Ronan caught me before I could stumble, pulling me into his arms with a quiet laugh.
“What are you laughing at?” I hissed, glaring up at him. “Why didn’t you tell me before he came in?”
“I didn’t have time,” he said, amusement dancing in his eyes. “I caught his scent when he knocked. So I did what mattered first.”
He was right, the dorm rules were strict. When there was a knock on the door, the Alpha had to open it within

three seconds. Ronan had used that precious time to mask my scent and move me into my bed without waking me.
My chest softened, and I wrapped my arms around his waist. “I didn’t expect Alpha Jude to walk into our room. It gave me a mini heart attack.”
Ronan chuckled and ruffled my hair. “Remember what I told you last night? You should’ve gone to see Grace. Your hesitation caused this little scene.”
I pouted and playfully hit his chest. “You got a warning too! Why didn’t you go visit her?”
He caught my wrist and pulled me closer, his lips curling into a smirk. “Baby, how can I go anywhere without my mate? Without you, I’m incomplete.”
My heart skipped at his flirtatious tone. I couldn’t help but smile as I rose on my toes and kissed him softly.
“Fine,” I murmured against his lips. “Let’s get ready.”
After half an hour, the breakfast bell rang, but instead of heading to the cafeteria, Ronan and I made our way to the healer’s wing.
Now that we were only two steps away from the Supreme Alpha throne, our morning training had been suspended. We were free to move as we pleased but that freedom came with a warning. The next trial was close. I could feel it in the air.
Ronan’s eyes stayed on me as I drew a deep breath outside Grace’s room. He gestured for me to enter first. A smile lifted my lips as I pushed open the door and instantly vanished.
Grace wasn’t alone.
Asher and Finn were already there.
Wait. Wasn’t Asher supposed to be in isolation? And Finn…
“Seth!” Grace’s voice broke through my confusion. Her eyes lit up with a familiar warmth. “You finally came to see me!”
My heart eased a little at the sight of her smile. “How are you, Grace?” I asked, stepping quickly to her bedside.
“I’m perfectly fine! But why didn’t you come sooner? Not just you, none of you have shown your faces the past three days!” she pouted. “And now suddenly, all of you decide to appear one after another?”
I gave her a sheepish smile. So she didn’t know that Alpha Jude had personally stormed in this morning to threaten me. Judging by everyone’s presence, I guessed he’d paid similar visits to the others as well.
“I would have come,” Asher grumbled, “If those old men hadn’t thrown me into isolation.”
Grace raised a brow. “And what about you, Alpha Finn?”
“I was punished too,” Finn replied quietly, his gaze brushing mine for the briefest second. My pulse jumped, and I immediately looked away.
It was dangerous enough for the two of us to be in the same room with one wrong assumption, and either of us could be expelled.
“So what, the punishments don’t count anymore?” Ronan’s voice came from the doorway as he stepped in. “No,” Asher answered dryly, “Visiting Grace is the only exemption.”

Ronan nodded, but Grace’s lips curved into a teasing smile. “Alpha Ronan, I really admire you. You only came when Seth Darven came-”
I quickly squeezed her hand under the blanket, silencing her before she could finish. She smirked but didn’t continue, though her eyes were practically laughing at me.
“By the way, where is he?” Grace asked.
“Who?” I blinked.
“I’m here,” came a voice from behind me.
I froze.
“Alpha Ryker!” Grace’s face brightened. “I heard you were punished too! I didn’t think you’d come.”
Ryker smiled smoothly. “How could I not? I was worried about you.”
My stomach twisted and rage builded inside me at his words. He was the reason she’d ended up in this condition, and now he dared to act concerned?
“How sweet of you, Alpha Ryker,” Grace teased. “But be careful, don’t you and Alpha Ronan start fighting again. My father already warned me when he made an exception for both of you to visit me.”
Ronan and Ryker’s gazes met like clashing blades of lightning before both looked away, the air crackling with unspoken tension.
Grace was cheerful as always, her laughter bright and effortless. You would never guess she’d just lost her baby. Maybe she thought I didn’t know about her pregnancy or maybe she simply refused to look back, choosing positivity over pain.
She chatted easily with everyone, shifting her tone and words depending on who she spoke to. Before long, a knock came at the door.
“It’s time,” Mr. William said as he stepped in, his calm eyes sweeping across the room. He looked directly at Ronan and Ryker. “Your time to visit with Grace is over. Kindly follow your prohibition.” He bowed slightly, then turned to Asher. “Alpha Asher, you must return as well.”
All three of them frowned but obeyed, leaving only Finn and me with Grace.
“Alpha Finn, thank you for the dates and dry fruits you sent yesterday. They were delicious,” Grace said warmly.
“You need the energy,” Finn replied with a soft smile. “Eat well and recover fast.”
Grace grinned mischievously. “Actually, I’m being discharged tonight.”
“So soon?” Finn raised his brows.
She laughed. “I had to act pitiful in front of Dad and Jude. They couldn’t stand my tears, so they agreed to let me go home. I hate staying here when I’m already feeling fine. I better move in Jude’s room in the academy even for one of two days. But I’ll visit you before I leave. After all, you were once part of my harem.” She winked playfully.
Finn chuckled. “Alright then.”
I laughed quietly, choosing not to interrupt their banter. But Grace’s sharp eyes flickered between us. “What’s with this tension?” she asked suddenly.

I froze. “It’s not like that-”
Before I could explain, a healer entered the room, closing the door behind him. “Luna Grace, I’m here for your check–up.”
Grace squeezed my hand gently. “Don’t leave. I need to talk to you after this.”
“Okay,” I nodded.
Finn and I stepped aside while the healer drew the curtain around Grace’s bed. The soft rustle of fabric closed her off from view, leaving just the two of us on the other side of the room.
A heavy silence settled between us. I could feel Finn’s gaze on me, steady and unreadable. My pulse quickened, and for some reason, I found it hard to meet his gaze.
Then he moved closer.
My breath caught. I wanted to step back, to tell him to stop but my feet wouldn’t move.
“Finn…” I finally whispered when he was just inches away. “If someone sees you like this, you’ll get in trouble,” my voice trembled, betraying me.
He stopped, so close that I could feel the warmth of his breath against my skin. His voice dropped, low and quiet. “Since you already ended things by your choice…then it’s only fair I end them by mine, right?”
I blinked, confused. “What are you talking about?”
He leaned in until his breath ghosted across my lips. “I’m ending things officially from my side too, Seraphina.”
Before I could react, he kissed me.
My eyes widened. Every muscle in my body froze. The world stilled for a heartbeat then he pulled away, a faint smile on his lips.
“Now,” he murmured, his tone soft but final, “Everything’s over.”
