**Chapter 250: The King’s Throne**
As the first light of dawn began to creep over the horizon, Alpha Hugo’s voice broke the tension that hung thick in the air. “The Academy building is completely destroyed,” he murmured to Alpha Gideon, his tone low and grave as he surveyed the chaos around them. The clearing was a hive of activity, filled with Academy staff, Alpha instructors, wolves, healers, and various others who had gathered, all eyes fixed on Alpha Gideon, seeking his guidance. “The Council is unreachable, and Alpha Austin is nowhere to be found. We can’t make any decisions without the Council’s order. Yet, we can’t abandon these people in the middle of the forest or send them back to their packs. It’s the dead of night, and there are she-wolves and children among them.”
Alpha Gideon’s gaze swept over the crowd, his expression hardening like stone. “It’s true that the Academy has collapsed, but this is still our territory. We must take action until we can establish contact with the Council.”
“Should I start making arrangements, then?” Hugo asked, his voice steady yet laced with urgency.
Gideon nodded decisively. “Yes, get some wolves to set up tents. We’ll also need a few to go hunting. Food and supplies are essential.”
Without hesitation, Hugo turned and began issuing commands to his wolves, who scattered in different directions to execute his orders. Across the clearing, Seraphina and Lily stood together, where Lily was recounting everything that had transpired in their pack over the last three months. As she spoke, Seraphina’s expression shifted subtly with each revelation, her emotions roiling beneath the surface, yet she remained silent, absorbing every word. When Lily finally shared the details of Seraphina’s own struggles at the Academy, the Blood Petal incident, and the moment her disguise had been stripped away, Lily could only hold her breath in disbelief.
“If I had been in your position, I would have shattered into a million pieces. Especially after your father disowned you. I can hardly believe it. Did he truly do that…” she faltered, her voice trailing off, the weight of her disbelief palpable.
Seraphina let out a soft, almost dismissive chuckle. “Yeah,” she replied with a casual shrug, “He’s been doing that since my mom passed away. He just made it official a few days ago.”
Turning to Lily, she offered a smile that seemed both genuine and practiced. “Honestly, I prefer things this way.”
Lily felt a pang in her chest as she observed the transformation in Seraphina. The girl she had known was gone, replaced by a woman whose emotions were tightly controlled, colder, and undeniably stronger than before. Seraphina wore her pain like armor, hiding it behind that smile.
Then, a voice pierced the heavy silence that enveloped them.
“Seraphina.”
Seraphina turned to see the she-wolves from her pack approaching, their faces streaked with tears, each one a testament to the fear they had endured.
“Thank you so much for everything, Seraphina. We were terrified. We thought we would be sacrificed because our lives didn’t matter anymore now that we don’t have soulmates. But when you came and fought to save us, we…” Their voices cracked, and the tears flowed anew, each one a release of pent-up despair.
Seraphina smiled softly, her gaze warm and reassuring as she addressed them. “Don’t worry, everything will be alright,” she said gently, her tone urging them to find solace. “Even without soulmates, each of your lives and your children’s lives are just as valuable in this realm as any male’s. Your lives and futures do not end with the loss of your soulmates. I know your grief is profound and may never fully heal, but do not lose hope. Live and fight for yourselves. I will be here for all of you.”
As they listened, the she-wolves felt the weight of despair lift slightly. Their faces, once clouded with hopelessness, now sparkled with a flicker of renewed strength. They nodded in agreement, their expressions shifting from one of defeat to determination.
One she-wolf stepped forward, her voice trembling with uncertainty. “Y-you’re coming back to the pack with us, right?”

For a brief moment, Seraphina’s smile faltered, a shadow passing over her features.
“No,” she replied, her voice gentle yet resolute. “But you can reach out to me anytime you need help.”
“But why not? It is your home,” another she-wolf implored, her hand reaching out to Seraphina. “Who doesn’t return home? Please, come with us.”
Seraphina’s gaze drifted to where Alpha Darious had once been bound, but she quickly averted her eyes, her expression inscrutable. “I have many responsibilities to attend to,” she answered, her smile returning, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “There are too many unanswered questions in my life, and my battle against the conservative rules of this realm must take precedence. I won’t think about home until I’ve completed the fight I’ve started. Please, don’t worry about me. Just get some rest, okay?”
