When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 1035

When Mrs. Amanda started hinting at future children, Lemira finally had to step in.

"No, no, Mrs. Amanda, you've misunderstood. We aren't together."

At least, not right now.

Mrs. Amanda's joyful expression froze, quickly replaced by an awkward, apologetic look. "Look at me, getting ahead of myself. It's just that you two are so perfect for each other. You only broke up because of the terrible mistakes I made back then."

Her eyes welled up with tears at the memory. If it weren't for her interference, Lemira and Orion would never have separated.

Lemira sat on the bench, looking out at the garden. "There are a lot of things we simply can't control."

"Lemira, you have to believe that Orion truly loves you. His feelings are genuine. He isn't treating you well out of guilt. He's not that kind of man."

Lemira nodded softly. "I know. I remembered everything about the car crash."

She paused, slightly surprised she had blurted it out, but she hadn't planned on hiding it forever anyway.

Mrs. Amanda gasped. "You really remembered?"

"Yes. I know he was the one who saved me. He tried to go back for my parents, but it was too late." She added softly, "It's a good thing he didn't run back into the flames, otherwise he wouldn't have made it either."

There was only enough time to save one person.

Mrs. Amanda stared at her in shock. "This is the first time I'm hearing how dangerous it actually was."

"He never told you?"

Mrs. Amanda shook her head. "No. He only gave us a brief summary of what happened. He never mentioned a single word about the danger. Maybe he told the police, but he kept it from us."

A complex wave of emotion washed over Lemira.

"Lemira, he might not be my biological son, but he's always been a good man," Mrs. Amanda pleaded. "I hope that once the lawsuit with the Sinclairs is over, you can give him another chance."
