When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 762

Asher covered his mouth, coughing violently, unable to utter a single word from the pain.

Lucian, distressed, supported Asher and shouted at Lemira, “That's only because Asher never knew the truth. We’re victims, too—do you really have to speak to him like that?”

“It was his arrogance, his self-importance, that made him never realize there was something wrong with Evelina. I refuse to believe none of you ever noticed she wasn’t as simple or as kind as you thought. But because she knew how to please you, you all chose to ignore it.”

Lemira’s gaze was cold and fixed on Lucian. “If you’d seen through Evelina sooner, maybe you would have noticed there was something unusual about her all along.”

Lucian felt like he could barely breathe.

She was right—Lemira was completely right.

He dropped to his knees. “Fine! It’s my fault. It’s all our fault, alright? Now that you see us sitting here like idiots, regretting and suffering, are you satisfied?”

Lemira’s eyes grew noticeably redder.

Her chest felt so tight she could barely breathe.

She tipped her head back to keep her tears from falling, then looked down at them and said, “It’s still not enough.”

After all, in her previous life, she had suffered a horrible fate because of all this.

She could picture it: last time, Evelina and her father had teamed up to swindle everything away from the Langston family while the rest of them played right into their hands like fools, running in circles.

In this life, she was the one who’d worked hard to finally uncover the truth.

Lucian choked out, his voice trembling with tears: “Then what will it take for you to forgive us?”

Her red lips tightened coldly. “Never. I will never forgive you.”

She swore to herself—she would never, ever forgive them.

After finishing, Lemira turned and walked away with Orion.

Lucian stared after her. “Lemira, we’ve always been your only family—nothing can change that!”

But Lemira didn’t look back.

Lucian sank to the ground, completely defeated. “Asher, what do we do now?”

He’d thought that after his surgery, he could come home, get along with Lemira, and slowly help her change her mind about the Langston family.

But he never imagined something like this would happen at such a crucial moment.

It caught him entirely off guard.

Orion’s voice was steady. “They deserved it.”

“Yes. They absolutely deserved it!”

Lemira wiped a tear from the corner of her eye. “But I don’t feel as happy as I thought I would.”

She should have felt triumphant after finally humiliating them, but her heart still ached.

Orion stopped the car at a red light and wrapped her hand in his. As he expected, her palm was ice cold.

With a touch of sadness, he said, “Because hatred only pulls you deeper the longer you hold onto it. In the end, it just brings you further from happiness.”

His warmth slowly seeped into her hand.

She pressed her lips together. “But I still have to get revenge. The driver, and the Sinclair family, they have to pay.”

Otherwise, how could she ever deserve to be happy?

Orion held her hand firmly, then finally spoke, “Actually, there’s something I’ve wanted to tell you for a long while.”

Lemira glanced over, a question in her eyes. What is it?
