When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 157

But it didn't matter. No matter how powerful Artina's new connection was, it wouldn't break the trap she had set. In fact, the sweeter their dreams and the bolder they acted now, the more entertaining the hunt would be. She was starting to look forward to it more and more.

Still... even with their newfound confidence, they had no right to parade their arrogance in front of her, to throw it in her face. Beg him to take her back? Beg him to marry her?

"Stop!"

Henrietta's voice cut through the air.

Matteo, who had just reached the door, froze.

Henrietta rose from her chair and advanced on him, step by step. "Where do you get the confidence to speak to me like that? Have you forgotten that you are still my employee? You benefit from the resources I provide, yet you constantly harass me. And when you don't get your way, you fly into a rage and hurl insults. Matteo, is this your true character? Or was everything before just an act?"

Matteo was at a loss for words, the consequences of his outburst crashing down on him.

"I..." he stammered, "I was just angry. How could I not be angry when you treat me like this?"

"How have I treated you?" Henrietta's voice was sharp and clear. "Have I frozen your career? Have I cut off your resources? After what Leon did, I should have fired him, but have I said a single word? And your sister, you know perfectly well what her talent level is. Let her try any other production company. Who would be willing to invest in her and build her career?"

Henrietta's words left Matteo flushed and speechless. Every single word was true. The last of Matteo's anger evaporated, and his voice softened. "I know. It's because you've been good to me, but you're too stubborn to take me back, that's why I lost my temper."

Henrietta tilted her head, her gaze fixed on him. "I've told you before, business is business. You're the one clinging to delusions. How many times have you come here to cause a scene? What is it now? Artina gets engaged to some rich heir and suddenly you've grown a spine? Anyone who didn't know better would think you were the one marrying him."

Henrietta said it deliberately.

The mention of Artina made Matteo visibly tense, though he tried to feign composure. "What does Artina have to do with anything?"
