When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 16

The long line of Ferraris following her car roared to life and sped away, leaving Matteo standing alone on the pavement, abandoned.

As each car whipped past him, the rush of air felt like a taunt, sending a cold sweat down his back. In moments, the entire convoy had vanished, leaving him pale and utterly lost.

What was wrong with Henrietta? Did she really find out…

"No, she didn't,” he told himself frantically. “I didn't cheat. I love Henrietta!”

Shaking, Matteo scrambled into his SUV and sped toward the hotel.

The birthday party was being held at the only global, exclusive ten-star hotel in Juno City. It was a Nash family property, audaciously named the Nash Hotel, perched on the city's most beautiful coastline.

Hosting an event there started at a million. It was a sum Matteo certainly couldn't afford. Winona had told him she had some connections with the Nash family and had managed to get the venue fee waived, leaving only the cost of the catering. But even that was beyond Matteo's means. Winona had insisted on covering it as her engagement gift to Henrietta.

To hold an event at the Nash Hotel was a massive status symbol in Juno City. It wasn't just about the cost; you couldn't get a reservation without the right connections. The hotel simply didn't cater to just anyone. Because of this, Matteo had felt an immense sense of pride when he sent out the invitations.

If Winona wasn't completely uninterested in him, then…

*No, what am I thinking? I must be losing my mind! My girlfriend is a billionaire heiress! From now on, I only love Henrietta. No other woman can even catch my eye!* he thought desperately.

Henrietta had hidden her identity from him. Could it be that Winona's influence was actually Henrietta's? That Henrietta had used her friend as a front to keep her secret? If so, did that mean Henrietta had done all of this for him?

A perfectly aligned fleet of custom black Rolls-Royce Phantoms was flanked by two heavy-duty Hummers at the front and two more at the rear, projecting an overwhelming sense of power.

Henrietta saw them as she stepped out of her car. It was the Nash family's fleet, bearing their unique family crest, just like the Sargents'.

A moment later, a man emerged from the central car, surrounded by an entourage as if he were a king. He first glanced at the hotel, then his cool gaze swept across the distance and landed on Henrietta for a fraction of a second before he turned away.

The man began walking toward the entrance with regal strides, a phalanx of black-suited bodyguards following him.

Henrietta, maintaining her composed demeanor, also began to walk toward the hotel. She couldn't be sure if the man was Yosef Nash. The scale of the convoy and his commanding presence suggested it was him, but Yosef was known to be incredibly busy. It seemed unlikely he would have the time to attend her birthday party. Besides, she didn't really know him. They had only met once a decade ago.
