When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 181

At that, the company employees who had been watching the spectacle were all stunned.

So, Artina really was engaged to Jethro Nash! No wonder she was so arrogant.

It made sense. If she didn't have such a powerful figure backing her, how would she dare to be so confrontational? Henrietta was the boss paying to make her a star. Normally, even if she refused a toast, she’d have to find a way to de-escalate, not escalate things to a standoff.

She hadn't even backed down when two members of the Nash family showed up to support Henrietta. It turned out she was emboldened by her engagement, feeling completely untouchable!

Hearing the claim, Zelina’s expression flickered, but she quickly recovered. “If you’re engaged to Jethro, then I suppose you’re halfway to being a Nash. Shouldn’t you know that the Nash and Sargent families have always been close? Is this how a host treats a guest? This was a minor issue that you’ve turned into a chaotic, ugly scene. I don’t think I’m blessed enough to have a daughter-in-law like you. If you want to call off the engagement, then go ahead!”

Zelina had turned the tables on her.

Artina’s face went ghastly pale. “No, Zelina, that’s not what I meant,” she stammered, then whirled on her friend. “What nonsense are you spouting?! Apologize to them right now!”

Seeing that the situation was unsalvageable and Zelina clearly wasn't on her side, Artina switched to playing the victim.

Her friend knew things were bad and was about to apologize just to avoid being forced to drink, but before she could speak, Yosef cut in. His voice was ice. “Drag her away. Make her drink. The rest of you, come here and apologize properly.”

He had no patience for their games. The time they’d wasted with their theatrics had already exhausted his patience. Had he rushed all the way back just to sit here and watch someone bully his wife for over ten minutes?

Yosef wasn't just impatient; he was furious.

Calvert understood immediately that Yosef's patience had run out. With a subtle glance and a hand signal to the bodyguards, the guards moved in. They were ruthlessly efficient, covering the mouths of Artina’s friends and dragging them out without another sound.

Artina took a deep, shuddering breath, a chill running down her spine. Her mouth opened, but no words came out. She didn't dare speak.

Zelina knew Yosef’s temper and also remained silent.

Artina’s hesitation only made Yosef’s expression colder. “Do I need to spell it out for you? You and your friends set this up, playing the good cop, bad cop routine. Is Jethro the one you’re counting on? If this is a contest of who has better backing, you’ve already lost.”

Artina felt as if a wad of cotton was stuck in her throat, making it hard to speak. “Yosef…”
