If they showered together, that… that should be fine, right? They were husband and wife, legally married. It was perfectly reasonable. She just had no experience with this, so the nerves were unavoidable. And so was the overthinking.
Yosef must have an incredible body. He looked amazing in clothes, so without them…
Her thoughts were running wild. Her mind was in such a jumble that her steps became unsteady, as if she were walking on clouds.
Thankfully, Yosef took her hand, steadying her, which only made her more nervous. He was leading her to the bathroom. This really seemed like they were going to shower together. He had already undone several buttons on his shirt, revealing a glimpse of his strong, muscular chest. The air around him was thick with a magnetic, masculine energy that enveloped her, sparking a flicker of curiosity—a desire to explore a man’s body, and the act itself, that she had never felt before. The thought alone shocked her.
Lost in this chaotic mix of nerves and wild speculation, they arrived at the bathroom door.
Yosef stopped and turned to face her. Henrietta’s face was slightly flushed as she looked up at him. Her fair skin, the hint of a blush on her cheeks, her exquisite features, and the slight shimmer of moisture in her beautiful eyes…
Yosef felt his throat tighten. The gaze in his usually cool, detached eyes deepened. His wife truly was a top-tier beauty, in both appearance and bearing. The title of Juno City’s most beautiful woman was well-deserved. Just standing there, silent, she was enough to ignite a primal desire in any man, no feelings required. More importantly, her reserved, cool demeanor gave her an air of ineffable mystery that made her all the more… alluring.
So alluring that he found it difficult to maintain his usual self-control. He, who had always prided himself on his discipline, honed by a near-demonic upbringing, felt it slipping just from the way she looked at him. For the first time, he didn’t want to be so controlled.
She was completely different from Britney Leland. Britney was just a young girl, and while her lively personality seemed to complement his, she had never made him feel this way.
They stood there in silence, looking at each other for a long moment. The blush on Henrietta’s beautiful face deepened.
“Nervous?” Yosef finally asked, his voice unexpectedly husky.
She blinked, then pressed her lips together. “No.”
It wasn't something to be nervous about. In arranged marriages of the past, couples often met for the first time on their wedding night and still had to… consummate the marriage.
Seeing her try to act tough when she was clearly a bundle of nerves, Yosef let out a soft chuckle. “Your hands are sweaty.”
Henrietta was mortified. Really? Did he have to call her out like that?
“Mr. Nash,” she began, and was startled by the sound of her own voice. Why did it sound so… delicate?
She leaned over to look. The caller was Calvert. She didn’t answer at first, but it kept ringing, so she finally picked it up.
Before she could speak, Calvert said, “Mr. Nash, it’s almost time for the video conference. I’m waiting outside the study.”
Directly across from the master bedroom was a large study.
“Mr. Nash is still in the shower,” Henrietta said. “He has a meeting at this hour?”
“Yes, he does. To get back sooner, Mr. Nash held meetings through the night. He didn't finish, so there are two more scheduled as video conferences.”
Henrietta was taken aback. “Through… the night?”
“Yes,” Calvert said, deciding to tell her everything. “The marriage registry office informed us that you had been there to check the license. Mr. Nash was worried about you, so he compressed his schedule and held all his meetings back-to-back. We were originally scheduled to return in two days.”
