When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 196

She also remembered that was the period when Y-N Group was aggressively expanding on the international stage. He truly must not have had the time, energy, or mindset for anything else. With Britney mostly in the country, their relationship would have been long-distance.

But this wasn't a topic to dwell on. Henrietta just nodded and let it drop, though she now felt a bit awkward. On her report, in that same section, she had declined to answer.

When Yosef glanced at her report, he saw the entry: Not Answered. He didn't say anything, simply remarking, "Let's go," as he stood up.

Henrietta rose with him, but she couldn't contain her curiosity. "Mr. Nash, are you... really not bothered?"

Logically, the more powerful and high-status a man was, the more likely he'd be to care about such things, wouldn't he?

Yosef took her hand, not answering directly. Instead, he asked, "Do you know how many powerful men in ancient times would go to war over a beautiful woman?"

Henrietta was taken aback.

His implication was clear: a beautiful woman was sought after, even if she had been married before. Men—powerful kings, heroes, and warlords—would still fight for her. Only the strong had the power to say they would 'fight' for what they wanted.

Henrietta pressed her lips together. "Yes, I understand."

She had intentionally left the question unanswered, just to see what would happen. A wise man once said: When you get close to someone, do it slowly, so you can see them clearly. She had already stumbled once.

"Besides," Yosef added, "you yourself said that those things don't define a woman's worth."

Henrietta turned to look at him. He met her gaze. "And I'd add that they certainly don't determine her fate. Henrietta, this is the twenty-first century."

A warmth spread through Henrietta's heart. A rare, brilliant smile lit up her usually cool features. She nodded emphatically. "I know!"

A woman's body was never meant to be her cage.

Yosef had to go to Y-N Group, but he drove Henrietta to her company first. Thinking about the sheer scale of his corporation, she felt a bit self-conscious as they pulled up. "You can just drop me off here. You should get to work."

"Aren't you going to invite me in for a look?" Yosef countered.

Henrietta's face flushed. "It's too small... and shabby."

That wasn't true; her company was a respectable mid-sized film production house. But compared to Y-N's headquarters, which spanned thousands of acres, it felt minuscule.

"Nonsense," Yosef said with a rare teasing tone. "Don't be so modest."

Henrietta felt like hiding her face.

In the end, Yosef did go inside with her. Everyone in the company froze, their faces a mixture of shock, curiosity, envy, and awe.

As Henrietta led him toward the executive office, she said, "It's not very spacious."

"Why did he say something as modest as 'thank you for accepting me' that day?" Winona continued, counting on her fingers. "Richest man in the world, handsome, healthy, and a virgin. And he's so gentle and considerate with you, his posture is practically humble!"

Henrietta thought for a moment. "I don't know. Maybe he just said it without thinking?"

"Or maybe," Winona said dramatically, "he's been secretly in love with you for years and is completely head over heels!"

Henrietta didn't quite buy that. She hadn't gotten that feeling from him at all.

"Forget it. Let's not overthink it," Henrietta said. "He probably just said it off the cuff."

"Yeah, that's possible too," Winona agreed.

Henrietta had no idea that she would soon discover the real reason—a reason that would change everything.

Just then, there was a knock on the office door.

It was Jolie.

Henrietta frowned in annoyance, but before she could speak, Jolie burst out, "My brother collapsed last night when he got home! He's seriously ill, a complete wreck!"
